Response to a recent post about NEOESR'S finances

I just recently read a post about NEOESR'S finances. Well I personally have been a recipient of NEOESR'S fundraising. They paid for my Sydney's cleft palate repair at the University of Pennsylvania to the tune of $2600.00, they also paid for another local sheepie bill for her bilateral femoral head osteotomy to the tune of $3000.00. If it wasn't for them I don't know how I or anyone else who has benefited from their generosity would have been able to pay for their procedures. I also know they send money to other rescue's to help with other sheepdogs health/vet bills. I don't hear about other rescue's fundraising activities. Another point the name may be New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue but the scope of their generosity had spread thoroughout the United States not just the New England area. Marian Feil

That was very generous of NEOESR, I hope that both of the sheepers involved are doing well, Marian!

Having been a part of NEOESR for quite a long time, I've seen the generousity first hand. It's wonderful to know all that NEOESR does for other rescues, and I'm glad someone posted about it!

At one point there was a program being discussed inside NEOESR that hoped to provide monies for other OES groups on an application basis, though I must confess I don't know where that stands at the moment. That would be another wonderful way that NEOESR would be helping the sheepdog community.

Personally, I think that NEOESR has a lot to offer the rescue community beyond dierct financial aid. I think that NEOESR could teach other rescues a lot on how to develop a loyal membership, how to raise funds and so forth, areas in which NEOESR excels (don't forget about placing sheepdogs, too!). Clearly, not every rescue in the world needs --or wants-- this or any kind of advice, but I would guess that NEOESR would stand ready to provide it if asked.

Thanks again for posting.

Ron,

NEOESR *DOES* in fact provide the OES rescue community with these things!

Thank you, Marian and Ron for sharing!

I too read that post about NEOESR, it was just awful. This organization is non profit the workers are all volunteers doing the work of rescue. If you read The Tale's End you can get an idea how this group works, but there are many that get support from NEOESR that are not listed. There is another rescue sheepie that is going to need surgery, NEOESR is right there. OES rescue is a network of people and it has no boundaries. I could continue but there are more dogs needing help and now is the time to raise money to help these dogs in need. We come to the forum and the list because we love OES's and we will help when and where it is needed. Thanks for removing that ugley post written by a guest. Thanks for reading this. Dolores
NEOESR is so incredibly good to our wonderful breed! I adopted Otis from Missouri last year in May, with the help from Grannie Annie.

Thank you Grannie Annie for all you do!! And of course to all the other people involved with NEOESR!!!
I think anytime you run a rescue you are going to take your hits. I have personally been acused of taking the older ones and sick ones BECAUSE I WANTED TO MAKE THE OTHER RESCUES LOOK BAD!! I have been accued of a lot......... Some of it TRUE and Some of it NOT TRUE.......I was told I would fall on my face because I didn't have the years of experence........ You have to be tough to do rescue. If you are not tough you will burn out......Not ever because of the Babies it it is because of the people that you have to deal with. NEOESR has been recuing for many years. They have saved many dogs in those years. They have done a wonderful job in those years. They have helped other rescues in that time. They paid the vet bill on 3 of the 4 girls that came from the Missouri Auction for us. I truly appreciated that. We really needed the money at the time..... There are many rescues out there that do a great job. Not all work the same way. I choose to go indepentent becuse I am not a group person. I didn't join all the clubs and organizations because of that. I don't have to answer to any group in the decisons that I make.......I'm not saying that is the right way BUT it is the way I choose to do it....... I have encouraged My People to help any rescue in anyway they could....... Money is always an issue......There is never enough.....Most of the smaller rescues work out of our own pockets....We work with other breed rescues.........In turn they have been a tremdeous help to us when we needed help........ What I am trying to say is Just Do What Your Heart Tells You To Do........ If you feel that you should only give your donations to one rescue there is nothing wrong with that..After All Isn't It About Saving Dogs No Matter Who Saves Them??????? Oh Marian... YOU'RE the lady that Grannie Annie spoke about!

My husband and I have a cleft pup too but we don't believe she will require any surgery. She's just about 10 months old now... we've had her since she was about 9 weeks. She's doing well- just have to check her thyroid again in December because she's in the "gray-zone".

And we adopted a special sheepie-girl from NEOESR about 3 weeks ago that has severe bilateral hip dysplasia that will eventually require FHOs also. http://www.pomeroys.com/EmmaDarby/MadisonXray.jpg They have offered to assist in the funding of these surgeries as part of our adoption agreement. Three cheers for NEOESR for seeing the value of extra special sheepies and financially assisting the families who choose to adopt them. They truly are making the lives of some lucky sheepies better. I've gotta say that I also appreciate the support we've received during our "settling-in" and adjustment period... just nice being having the advice and reassurance.

Just got in on this one, but I have to say:

Most of you know my story (the 5 in Indiana). I don't know what the expenses were, but NEOESR paid it all. Grooming, vets, transportation, whatever was necessary they took care of it!!! Thank you again!!!

I started with the OES forum, they sent me to the NEOESR and my dogs are in wonderful new homes. I know I don't have to worry about them!!!

I told Grannie Annie that I would ask for donations from then on, so

PLEASE DONATE TO THE NEOESR!!! PLEASE ADOPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
