Abby Update/ Guess How many puppies?

Still no puppies....lol....
The puppies have slowed down to lazy rolls instead of vigorous kicking, cramped for space and I think she will have them soon. She is doing really well, healthy and happy, lazy...lol... She's not eating much today, and her temp is down to 98.8, so I think today or tomorrow. She fooled me before, her temp dropped to 99.4 a couple of days ago, but went back up.
She's really not very big compared to some dogs I've seen, it will be interesting to see if she's been hiding pups up under her ribcage.
Anyone want to start guessing when she'll have them, how many, boys, girls etc?
I think she will have them tomorrow, I think she'll have 3, and I think there will be 2 girls and one boy....
Here are some pic that show the progression...
First pic is Sept 7, then Sept 18, then Sept 27, and lastly October 1st (today)

WOW! I will say 3 -4 pups 2 girls ene boy maybe 2
My guess is 5 pups....3 females, 2 males. Are you going to place them yourself? If you need any help I can connect you with a great rescue organisation in your area that can post the pups on Petfinder for you, screen homes etc. I almost took in a pregnant Border Collie cross last week. Hubby would have had my head! LOL Puppies are so much fun, and work, and fun....Did I mention the work?
I am going to place them myself, but I am also working with a rescue organization as well.
You're about 3 hours from me in Milton :) Where did you get your oes?
Bosley's story....His mom was a Montreal shelter dog, who was adopted out pregnant (unknown to the shelter). She had 7 pups and at 4 weeks they were brought to the shelter as "mom" had health problems..I don't know the details..They were all put into foster care together , and homes were found except for 2 so back to the pound at 8 weeks they went. I heard about them through a national rescue group I am on, and as I do rescue was ready to take them in to speuter and place but only got Bosley....Needless to say he is not leaving : )

Last winter I fostered a prenant sheltie and then the pups. It was a lot of fun, but boy, was I glad to see them go LOL Due to the cold and snow they were in the house the whole time, set up in the middle of my family room in a huge X-pen. They got very used to telephones, TV's, video games, and kids running around, and I had them crate-trained, paper-trained, and spayed before they left at 8 1/2 weeks old. I invited so many people over to solicalize them, and we took them on car rides, puppy visit outings to my friend's houses....What a lot of work, but it sure gave them a good start. Their new families had it reallly easy and kept telling me "how smart the pup was" because it was so easy. Little did they realize that I did not have a life for weeks.
I am going to guess 6...

I say 3 boys 1 girl. I'm usually good at this kind of stuff but I'm just not feeling it today. Hmmm, must be the weather. Or I can't translate into Canadian puppies, eh?
Still nothin.....
Temp is back up to 100.4 (normal is about 101.5, their temp drops 2 to 4 degrees 12 to 24 hours before delivery)
If I were Abby, I'd give birth already, just to get you to stop taking my temperature!
:D
Yeah, it's certainly not a pleasant thing to have to do, but it is important, not only to give me some idea of when she may deliver, but to make sure she doesn't develop infection. Sometimes a puppy may die in utero, causing sepcis and death of all other pups as well as the mother.
Are your kiddos crowding around ...always asking when she is going to have them? Are they begging you to keep one too?
Nah, the kids are used to this.... they're older too, so they are busy with their own lives and not home much. LOL
Oh, forgot. I'm guessing 4-5 pups.
I say 7 pups...5 girls 2 boys.....
Is this a BABY POOL????? I guess 6 pups 3 girls 3 boys (always did have trouble making up my mind)
My guess is 4... (3 girls 1 boy)

Let's go Abby, let's go...clap clap...Let's go Abby, let's go.
I'm guessing 7... 4 boys and 3 girls!
I'm going with 5...3 boys, 2 girls :)
LOL, I have to say 3...2 girls, and 1 boy. You are the one who can always guess the number in a litter, how many do YOU think there is?

Stacey has a gift, if I have a pregnant Momma, I just ask her, when and how many, and she has been right a lot, and sometimes just off by a bit. LOL

How is the little kitten that you found doing? The pictures of her were really cute, she looks just like Daschel!!

Keep us updated!!

Hugs,
Stormi
8 7 boys 1 girl All with a normal temperatures.
OK...I really have to just make time to get on the forum! Last I'd heard we were trying to figure out IF Abby was pregnant!

I guess an even litter at 4, 2 boys and 2 girls!

I was pretty sure she was, but when I felt that definite kick, not like bubbles or gas, but a definite puppy kick and then roll over in her belly, I was sure! LOL
Still nothing by the way.....

The kitten is doing well, but she still doesn't have a name!
Goodness! I'm behind the times, too! I thought we were still a week away from puppies!

Let's see....ummm...my guess will be three puppies, two boys, one girl.

Will you be able to check on her during the day? :)
Wait a second!!! Puppies?!!! Abby is having puppies???? Oh, good grief, this PROVES I'm working too hard on the house! Umm, ummm.... Ok, 5 puppies, 2 boys 3 girls, and at least 1 will have blue eyes. Geez, somebody please PM me when they're born, so I don't miss out on baby puppy pics?

Back to work!!!!

Karen :)
Barney came from a litter of 11! So I'll bet the house - 11. :D

And no, I'm not in the market for any more right now. :D :D
11 in Abby?! 8O

Oh my goodness  Could you imagine 11 Willowsprite? You'd be so busy! :)

Actually my husband stayed home today and has been keeping an eye on her... she has been digging and refusing to eat and vomited today, all normal signs that it should be soon!
If she hasn't had them, or if she isn't showing any imminent signs by tomorrow when I have to leave for work I will come home at noon to check her.
Don't we all feel like the were in the waiting room waiting for the dr to make an announcement...anyone else pacing??

Shall I get a cup of tea for anyone?

She'll probably wait until you've gone to bed and fallen into a deep sleep...to start the labour and delivery. Once the house is quiet, and she relaxes.
LOL Daisie, it does feel that way.
I'm anxious and excited, and I hope everything goes ok, and I can't wait to see them, how many, what colors, what breeds they look like.... I can't wait to hold them and smell puppy breath. LOL
This bring back memories of when my Boxer had her pups.
I had to call everyone at my office to keep giving the puppy updates.
She went into Labor at 6am and boy did she make a lot of noise during her contraction. I was so nervous with and pacing back and forth.
She decided she wanted to go out and we were about to let her out when we saw a pup coming out. 8O That was my Petey :D He was born around 9am. He was the first born. She had two more boys naturally and three girls during her c-section. She had had enough and basically gave up.
I hope Abby's labor is easier than Roxie's
Elissa
Puppy Breath... (sigh)

That's so exciting. ...esp once they're able to move a little. Although I'm blocking out what it's like to hear a new puppy cry and cry all night. It's always worth it to see them grow and open their eyes. Do you have anyone who is already interested in one? Sorry if you already answered this.
They don't usually cry unless there is a need, either cold or hungry etc... just like any other baby...most of the time the momm a keeps them happy and quiet at least for the first few weeks! LOL

There are a few people who have expressed an interest, some I think would be great, and some of the people I work with I've out-right said no to. Sometimes just a gut feeling, and sometimes they say the stupidest things... like " My last dog got fleas so I had to get rid of it, so can I have a pup?"
"No!" .... Heeere's yer sign!

lol

When I go to non-dog boards and people say stuff like that, I have to refrain myself soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

The pregnant board I go to with another poster here, someone wrote that they were fed up with their dog because they were pregnant and unable to solve the fact their dog drinks out of the toilet and has allergies. ...but has a great personality and doesn't show signs of aggression.

uhh... so that's as bad as you've got it? my, your life is so rough owning a dog.
Some people don't deserve to have dogs. A woman here at work said she knew of someone who gave up their dog because it no longer matched her decor!!! They got a white dog because they were going to redecorate in white but when they decided to decorate in taupe, she gave up the dog because it didn't match! When she was told at the pound that if it wasn't adopted, it would be euthanized, she was pretty much indifferent. What an idiot!
Beauregard's Mom was right! :)
Yay! Congrats!
