I think I still want to hang one more cabinet above the toilet - a narrow horizontal model - but I'm still debating that.

Leslie (TylersMom) helped install the toilet and was the inspiration behind the cool color of the medicine cabinet! We also managed to saw through the living room wall while we were trying to get out a 50-yr-old board to enlarge the hole for the medicine cabinet. Whoops! :o

Jill (ButtersStotch) helped install the light fixture and we managed to tear the wallpaper. Another whoops!

I did the floor and the wallpapering myself. I actually ran out of wallpaper. The last strip was six inches short but I did find a piece in the scrap pile to finish up. I couldn't believe it when the word "Florida" came out perfectly centered above the tub. I did not plan that. The worst piece was to the left of the sink. It started 5" to the right of the wall switch for half the wall and then goes left for that 4" where the wall comes out then 18" wide from the bottom of the soffit to the floor and it's all one piece!! I rock!

I've got another shower curtain but I don't know where I put it and I'm thinking it might be too busy. It's clear with three or four large flamingos in the middle. Maybe just a plain curtain would work best.

The floor looks much better in person. The flash picks up the irridescence, but detracts from the whole thing in general.

The medicine cabinet paint is actually pearlized. Very very cool. I bought it off eBAY and after sanding the 2 coats of paint for hours, Leslie had the brilliant idea of taking it to an auto body shop! Voila! They sandblasted it, mixed up a custom color and did an awesome job. I rewired it and installed it myself.

All in all, I think it turned out great!

Fellow bathroom girl, you are correct. It turned out beauty-fully. I especially like the new floor. When I get a new pink toilet, will you come and install it for me????
WOW it looks great!!!! Alot of work, at least you had help! I could have nerver done it. My hats off to you ladies :) :clappurple:
Jil, what can I say?? It looks FABULOUS!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: It really brightened up the room, made it look bigger. You have every right to be proud of yourself for a job very well done! I'm in awe. Wow!
Chris
Wow! I love it! I'm so impressed! I really love the floor and the rectangle sink. Nice work!
love it, love it, love it!

The cabinet looks awesome!

The paper is amazing!

It does look bigger and better lighting all the way around!

YOU ROCK!
What...you didn't love the blue toilet...hehehe

It looks great, as a fan of two curtains I think the flamingos would be cute, and comical. I have a small bathroom, and use the liner as the inside and the reg fabric for the outside, it warms up the place and helps absorb sound.

Great job what's next?
Great job! So, talk to me about removing the old floor tile......I want to do it but dread the length of time it'll take...I'll be starting mine soon and will post pics as well. I am very impressed!!
Josh - I started to remove the tile myself, but it was set in 2" of concrete and it was just after Belle passed and every time I swung that sledge hammer I got MORE pissed off. After a couple hours I only had a couple square feet done and my blood pressure was probably sky high so I hired someone to do it for $100. This was the original ceramic tile but I have removed peel & stick myself; those buggers really stick!

Daisie - the blue toilet. Sigh. I wanted to keep it, but decided not to 'cause it was giving me trouble anyway AND taking out the blue sink made the toilet look really out of place. The wallpaper was bought with the blue sink/toilet/tub in mind when I moved into the house a few years back. I was trying to keep as much original to the house as I could, but I guess I just gave up! You're pretty funny asking what's next - this took me all summer and now I need a vacation, ha ha ha!

Paula - installing the toilet wasn't too bad. It wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be and that was the worst part. No, actually the worst part was removing the old wax ring which had hardened into a rock-like substance.

Leslie, Valerie, Chris, Fergie's Mom, Daisie, Josh & Paula - thank you very much for your kind words!

It was a LOT of work . . . as you know, I've been working on this all summer and it feels great to have it done. I wonder how long it will take me to put away all the tools . . .
What a great job! Me next! Me next! I need the wallpaper expertise for all the tough corners and getting behine the toilet and vanity and such!

Thanks for sharing.
It looks great--so much fresher and more streamlined.

I love the tile especially. We are going to do something similar (tile-wise) for our master shower soon...
:clappurple: Awesome Job Jil!
It looks wonderful.
Elissa
I think the lightwork is incredible... 8)

You didn't tell them about all the sweet features of the toilet though-- it has an almost hydraulic-like lid/seat. If you lift it up and go to put it back down, it goes all slow and closes itself. It's like having your own bathroom attendant, but cheaper. ;)

Jill
Jill, you are right about the really neat toilet seat that goes down all by it's self. Really amazing. I'm looking for one for my bath, I liked it so much.

Jil, you are welcome! You did a great job and all the elements came together so well. Looks like a decorating job out of a magazine!
I have never seen the Florida wallpaper, it is really cool. Now you can track hurricanes on it 8O ! I live in between the lights and to the south. If you need flamingo stuff, just let me know!
I've never seen a blue toilet! Goodness. The whole job is great. I like the floor tiles, very interesting. Nice size sink. Good clean cabinets. Oh, go for the flamingos! It's only a shower curtain, not a big commitment.

I need a redo both bathrooms here, but each room has it's own unique hurdles. I'm afraid my hurdling days are past. So I just live with the disaster. Husband is zero interesting in tackling any more home improvement projects.

Do you hire out??
I saw those seats at Home Depot--my complaint (if anyone cares to hear it) is that with those seats, the seat part is a bit concave and feels a bit weird. Probably TMI for all of you but hey, we're talking about a bathroom here, right?
Calgon TAKE ME AWAY!! Great JOB! :clappurple:

Ginny Tasker & Ty
Wow amazing job! I just LOVE the wallpaper...I'm jealous...my bathroom shower was taken apart in FEBRUARY and is STILL not working properly  (good thing we have 2 showers in the house)
My brother is the contractor....in the last 3 years he has basically changed my whole house...but he gets bored after a while so there are a ton of niggly things that are NOT finished...sigh...good thing hubby is handy, but with 60 hour work weeks and almost 2 hour commute...that doesnt leave any time or energy to get the things done. I am learning to paint out of necessity LOL
Yeah, I'll hire myself out, but you probably don't want me since it took me five months to do it all. I lived with only a toilet in the basement for 6 weeks or so. At least I got exercise on a daily basis! Of course, Bentley supervised the whole process and even made me redo a few things. 8)

I got used to the toilet seat pretty quickly, probably because I like to flush the silly thing. It flushes FAST and that just makes me laugh. How's that for weird bathroom talk?!?!

I love the wallpaper too! I like 50's stuff and even though this is more of a 40's feel, it really matches the tile that was in the bathroom, plus it had flamingos (another of my kitschy collections) so it was perfect.
It looks FABULOUS!!

I so wish mine was finished, too! But, alas, I have only just begun. :? I took the carpet out of the closet and bathroom last week before I left for the beach. It was yucky due to a water leak which occured earlier in the week. So now, I have no flooring! Yikes! What was I thinking? :x

I know...I thought it'd force me to fix it quickly...and it will!!
Very, very cool!
Just this side of kitsch, no too over the top, perfect.

One word of advice about the self lowering toilet seat. Remeber that not everyone has one. My friends have them in their house and now everytime he uses the bathroom somewhere else you hear this big crash at the end because he just pushed the seat/lid expecting it to lower gracefully to the bottom. Oops :o .
Jil....you did a really good job!!!! The tile work is fabulous!!!! You deserve a big pat on the back!!
Thank you all!

Just this side of kitsch was exactly what I was going for!!

Wait till you see it in person . . . the tile is seriously cool and it doesn't translate into a photo.
