OES in Nebraska - help!

This poor OES boy is in Nebraska, and the seller breeds at least 8 other breeds of dog. From the picture, he looks like he is in serious trouble. Can anyone help him? Below is the link for his listing. Makes me so mad!

Oh, he does look SO sad! Poor guy! Also looks to be a bit malnourished. Wonder if he came from a puppy mill?
Chris
It is a puppy mill. The seller has 8 other breeds listed for sale. I sent the seller a nice email and told her that I would be willing to take the dog and foster him and find him a good home. She said, "I am not looking for a foster home. I want him to go to his forever home from my home." Yeah, right lady. You are really caring... about money. Who knows what the dog count is there at his "home."
Poor puppy! That rug looks disgusting.
Look at the labradoodle for sale by this "breeder" it looks like the house is falling down around them....poor dogs, someone should rescue all the dogs from her.
I just read this post about this dog they decided not to use as a breeder.

I want to just [ SCREAM ]!!!

I am boiling over this!!!! Anyone know if she still has him? Please tell me that he now has a good loving home..
At first I was going to remove that link as it is, in reality, a link to a breeder who is offering a dog for sale.

However, I thought people's reactions might be interesting.

Well, what do people think? Is this really just a dog for sale ad, pretending to be something else?
Im not going too say much, due to the words that will get me into trouble,I think most of you know how I feel about puppy millers...I HATE THEM! Jagger being a product of an evil place like that. This jerk is using these wonderful animals to make the fast almighty dollar!!She is so disgustiong..there Ron theres my opinion.....wow!!my spelling really needs to improve when Im typing mad!!LMAO!!
Hi Guys,

I am not sure I know what you mean by the "pretending to be someone else." I heard back from Grannie Annie the NE OES angel. She is at
Centenniel is this week so she's unable to help until she returns from that. Hopefully this guy will find some TLC before then. He's in Nebraska. I am in Kansas, and just brought home our new sheepie boy from the Animal Haven shelter in Merriam! He's a doll!!! He is recovering from an infection at his neuter site but other than that is PERFECT.

Hugs to all and everybody pray for the little Nebraska guy.

Jacky
I posted the guest reply about the lab and its photo. I also checked the other dogs available. There is a schnauzer / cocker mix available, because the SCHNAUZER male got out. Some responsible breeder, huh? Poor pup, I hope someone will give it a good home.
I hate this for so many reasons. I hate that the dog is in these conditions and I hate the people for being irresponsible and not caring about the welfare of the animals that they're producing-- and that what it is: producing, like an assembly line, not breeding.

You know what though? I look at that face and where he is, knowing he needs to get out of there, and money to them or not, I'd take him if I could. I'm afraid when it comes to reality versus my principles, I let my emotions get the best of me and my principles go out the window. Like it or not, it's just me. I know I can't save them all but if I have the means to save one I come in contact with, I'll do it. Ironically, in a roundabout way, my emotions were what got me my Clyde and I couldn't have asked for a better dog and I couldn't imagine my life without him!
Hi Jacky,

The point is that link is a sales ad placed by the breeder, in the hopes of finding someone who will take an older dog off their hands for money, rather than losing money and turning the dog over to rescue, or to euthanizing the dog.

That link isn't to a rescue dog. It's a link to the breeder who is selling off her breeding stock. Rescue dogs don't sell for $350.

I know you aren't the one that's pretending anything. It is a despicable practice by despicable breeders.
This poor guy is still there and is still for sale, makes me sick, he looks to be in pretty bad shape. I wonder what the laws are in Nebraska for breeding............ this lady runs a pretty bad place, just infuriates me to no end. That whole site is for puppy miller's -- there are only a couple of OES's on there that even fit the breed standard, most of them look like backyard breeding for a buck -- ARGH!!! It makes me so mad!!! I wish there was something more I could do, but I can't see giving this lady more money to continue her practices.
I hate seeing things like this and my heart just breaks. I'm sure this must be a puppy mill as they are breeding too many types of dogs. The poor OES is filthy. If this were a reputable breeder looking to find a home for her breadwinner, he would at least have had a bath before posting him on the website and wouldn't expect much money. He needs to be rescued.

Does anyone live in Nebraska and can call animal control? I ran into this situation in Yorkville, IL with a dog that my sister-inlaw purchased. The pup died within a day due to parvo. I suspected it was a puppy mill and the animal control visited the site and even called me back with his findings. It took several complaints, but they were closed down within the next 2 years. I'd like to think I had something to do with that.

My Annie was a breeder turnover but I received pictures, a videotape of her with her puppies, copy of birth certificate before we even agreed to take her in. We only paid $100 which barely covered her grooming and annual checkup. And if I must say so, she was beautiful from the day we picked her up. I'm so disgusted about this. Maybe the OES rescue spoken about will check into this soon.
I e-mailed this woman and expressed interest in this boy. I also asked several questions including:

This guy looks very thin, does he have a thyroid or other medical problem?

Are the sire and dam OFA certified? Are they on premise so I could meet them?

Could I come to your house to pick up the dog or must he be shipped?

Does he get along with other dogs since I have 4 OES?

Is he a house dog or left outside in a kennel?

Are there any temperament problems I should be aware of?

I sent this only to see what the reply would be. Is anyone surprised there was no reply
This makes me sick!!!!

I HAVE experienced a "back-yard breeder" first hand.. my Murphy, who we rescued 18 months ago, came from a CKC registered breeder who had 70+ dogs living in conditions that still haunt me to this day.

I never purchased Murphy she turned him over to the SPCA because he was a mixed breed.. OES/Springer, I had to go to her home which was 6 hours away in another province to get him.. when we arrived in March 04 the conditions were undescribable.. my first instinct was to turn around and go home.. but my boyfriend said.. we came this far.. we are not leaving without taking one of these dogs home.

Murphy was 13 months old.. weighed 23 lbs and had few teeth in his mouth.. he was severly matted, covered in sores, infection in his ear and eyes and maggots on his bum.

The whole time we were there.. she proudly displayed, puppy after puppy that she was selling and even tried to convince us to "buy" one of her pure breds..

After arriving back home in Nova Scotia.. the sights, smells, conditions of these poor dogs haunted me for weeks.. finally I said to myself.. I couldn't be one of those people who just talk about. So I contacted the NB SPCA and lodged a complaint.. then I tracked down a few people who had purchased pure breds from her and they agreed to help me shut her down. It took almost a year.. countless visits from the SPCA to her home and finally a front page article in the Regional Newpaper before anything was done about it... the article struck a cord with all the animal lovers who were outraged and demanded the Provincial Government to do something on behalf of these poor dogs. Most dogs were placed in new home.... some were to sick to help.. but the thing that galls me the most about the whole situation was the "CKC registered" breeder didn't think that there was anthing wrong with the way her dogs lived.

I am rambling... I could go on and on about this.. but I won't ... the long and short of it is... EVERYONE together can make a difference in these animals lives...

Please, please for the sake of these animals.. someone in their immediate area call the SPCA and lodge a complaint.

P.S.. don't buy from pet stores that sell animals.. that is supporting puppy mills.
I applaud you for taking action! Your boy is lucky to have you :)
Dudster

I admire what you did with that breeder your boys Dudley and Murphy are lucky to have you, they look adorable.

Tanya
Hmmmm, so this is pretty rural and I am having a hard time finding which Humane Society is responsible for this rural area. It's too bad that they don't post her address  it'd be so much easier................ regardless we will get to her......
Dudster... I am so happy you did what you did... if only more would take action! Thank you :)
OK fine, I contacted the NE Humane Society, so we will see where they lead me to. Also, I have been out of the 4 legged world for a while and have been dealing with little uprights instead, but what is APRI registry?
Just curious!
The Dudster....I am on a National Rescue Yahoo group and I recall this bust in the last year or so. Can't recall when, exactly, but it made headlines for sure! If I remember correctly the folks lived two lives...one was the showy one, with the nice pics on the website etc. but the reality was awful. I remember foster homes and rescues were needed to assist, but it seemed all were taken care of. I am honoured to have made your aquaintence, as someone who helped to make a difference in a big way! Congrats!
This breaks my heart. That poor boy looks so neglected and in much need of some TLC. I pray that a good outcome will occur. Can we all jump on the bandwagon and report that a puppy mill is in that area? Does anyone have a contact number for the Nebraska Humane Society?

Marianne and the boys
If anyone figures out a way to get this guy out, I can possibly help with transportation, or fostering for a short time. We are in Iowa, so it's not too far from here.
We are in Kansas City, Kansas, and would love to help this little Nebraska sheepie. We can help with a leg of driving, but can't take the little guy into our home right now as our newly adopted sheepie is just now finally healthy. (We brought him home from the shelter with kennel cough and a skin infection. Took almost 4 weeks but he is finally all well!)

I have called and sent a couple of e mails to the Nebraska Humane Society, so far I have heard nothing back on it.

We are in CO and it doesn't look to be too far of a drive

PLEASE send e mails!! Call, anything to the above, maybe with enough people bothering about it, they'll do something for it.

Oh, and I know the feeling, Mynie and Fez are finally over all of their issues -- Thank the Goddesses!!
I hope it all works out.
UPDATE

I just got off the phone with the State of Nebraska Inspector for Canines (Rick Herchenbach -- NE Dept of Agriculture).

Very interesting conversation. Basically the person who listed the dog on the site (Melody) does not have the dog -- she is an online broker -- so to say for a couple of commercial breeders. She had recently started breeding herself and so now has to get a license before she can continue breeding ......

Also, Rick stated that he would go out to the commercial breeder that has the dog and inspect again, this breeder is not a USDA breeder, so I can't get the USDA to go out.

I will keep everyone informed of what they say. Like I told Rick, I have no problem coming in and rescuing this dog, but this breeder is not looking for that.

Looking hopeful .......... maybe this guy will get out of there soon -- I am thinking though we all need to start lobbying for new laws to be passed to cover the sales of dogs over the internet ...................[/u]
How do these people sleep at night?? I hope this guy gets a loving home before its to late!
Melody is unable/unwilling to answer ANY questions. I sent a followup email...again no reply.
I sent an e mail to her and so did my mom (another sheepie lover) -- yeah -- no response, I think because she is acting as a broker in this case. How maddening...........................this guy's gotta to be getting larger and needs to be groomed etc. -- WHY WON'T THEY JUST TURN HIM OVER??! Grrrrrr...................
I emailed this guy and tried to talk to him...I am came in very easy on him.......HE SAID THAT IF HE COULD NOT GET $350.00 FOR HIM HE WOULD JUST KEEP HIM..I tried to talk about people wanting to adopt puppies and would Love and take care of him......I asked if he would taek less for him and he said NO.......He said "HE DIDN"T CARE"...... I tried......Sheepie Hugs, Kaye
GRRR :(
I clicked on the link in the first post, and the listing is no longer available. I can only hope this means the poor guy went to a good home.
I got a call back from NE Dept. of Agriculture. They were onsite today and stated that the dog looked and acted healthy. Bonnie Kaylin (Oxford? maybe the name of the mill) -- she did take the dog to the vet for the health check up; and NEAG has a copy of the vet's notes stating the dog was in good health.

So......................... what to do next?????
I found this topic on a google search. I believe this breeder of this OES was busted by Nebraska officials a few days ago.
http://www.wowt.com/news/headlines/7551442.html

The last name is Kaelin (someone here spelled it Kaylin) but they were busted by USDA several years ago (even before this thread started) and their USDA license was permanantly revoked. I can't believe the inspector told one of you that everything was fine at this kennel...that was in 2005, just a year after USDA revoked his license in federal court...with 70 pages of USDA violations! And yet the same inspector is still on the job and he acts like this is the first time he has ever heard of this breeder.

I'm just sick over this!
