hEY, THANKS foR asking!! (oops, CAPS lock got stuck)

AnchorageWe just got back from Anchorage (by plane) and bought a very cute condo/townhome. I can't wait to move into it since the housing we found while my husband goes to school is CRAPPY and BUTT SMALL. Good grief, I feel bad for the dogs!!!

We leave Oklahoma Sept 21st
I move to TX (will have no internet) and husband moves to Georgia.
Oct 21st we begin moving to Anchorage!

His parents HATED him traveling alone or me traveling with him (since I'll be 7 1/2 months along) so his dad is flying down to drive with him. Super nice of them considering how much the plane tickets cost! I will drive with him to Denver. Colorado and then fly from there.

I think I will be flying with the cat and maltese. My husband will somehow manage with crazy Yuki in the car for the 9 days or whatever to alaska.

Dogs getting along: Hmm.. I really thought Isis was growing to LOVE Yuki. Always chasing each other and initiating "play" ...but now I think the little one does what she can to avoid Yuki. Yuki doesn't hate ANYONE, so spends the entire day shoving toys in the little ones face. No matter how angry the maltese gets, Yuki thinks they're BOTH having the gayest of fun times. Seriously.

Pregnancy I AM miserable. lol just kidding. Jeez, I feel like a big balloon especially when we're in the cat and the seatbelt is snug below and above my belly. Everyone jokes about my beer belly.

It will be a long time until I get another appt b/c of the move. The doctor I'm seeing now thinks I'll be fine and the only difficulties I'll have will probably be seen during labor (my kidney).

Here's the progress page I have (Warning: pics of my big belly):

This was last week:

And this was today at just about 6 months. My husband noticed that I ballooned over night.

I'm a retard. I thought you asked how the dogs get along, but you said adjusting. :P

Yuki is having issues with adjusting from being left at the kennel. Big time. She is confused by "I peed in my crate at the kennel" so I'll just pee in the crate at home too. Or... all the dogs at the kennel want me to bark excessively as our only form of play while locked up, so I'll "bark at home." ======== I have a headache. ;) ...but we are giving her time to adjust.

Outside of that... because we're ALWAYS traveling now (from ok to tx ....next week will be ok to virginia .......then to tx.......then to alaska) ....she is EXTREMELY excited whenever she sees the car door open. She puts her front paws up to be lifted in and yesterday (since we weren't going anywhere) ...she spent an hour in the back of the car (door open) while my husband worked in the garage.

Too funny!

P.S. Your baby belly pics are so cute! :D
So exciting, but I love change, I tend to get tired of normalcy sometimes. I drive my husband nuts.

I thought by the other post (old one), you were MOVING, not just scoping it out. Glad you were able to find a place, at least you can look after your there. Once the dogs get settled in Alaska I am sure things will return to normal. Too bad about the crate peeing, and barking.

Those pictures are so cute, not a big belly at all...I hope your kidney does okay...not like labour is enough to stress about. Will they opt for a c-section instead? Have you deliver early?

Let us know all about Ancohrage once you get settled. Then of course the baby pics.
I don't know about the C-section or early delivery. Oh boy. I hope not as I always hear about how painful that is afterwards (healing). I still have a lot of time before they evaluate that. So far, my "kidney" is functioning great. As the baby grows, things may change.

How about you? Trying? ;)
Where in VA??? Let me know, maybe you will be close to me and we can meet up for lunch or something:)
Does WinterGreens sound familiar? It's a ski/golf resort with a small community of retirees.

How is your pregnancy going BP? :) :)
I still only feel kicks in the pelvic area. I switched to flinestones vitamins because I couldn't handle the prenatal ones. I'm waiting to hear the results of your BIG ultrasound! I won't have computer access (for a month starting any time now) so you'll have to PM me or post it on this board so I know!!!
Kinda trying a little. Hubby doesn't really want to add to the family, yet he hasn't been using protection. I won't use the pill. Plus having a slightly open tube and only 1 tube came open, we have a pretty low chance of it happening.

Now hubby doesn't know I am doing everything I can to make sure if it happens I am ready. I drink lots of green tea to cleanse, Red Rasp tea to strengthen the uterus, Agnus cactus to make sure I am ovualting normal, prenatal vitamins (had since miscarriage in Jan)...taking everyday now. Evening Primrose Oil...for beginning of cycle. Robitussin soon...to thin out the mucus for better swimming for spermies.

I want it to happen so bad, and I know hubby would enjoy another baby, we loved being pregnant, and all of it. He didn't like the c-sections, or the expense of formula. I didn't mind the c-section, and the fact I wasn't able to breastfeed was a downer but we got through it. I had a breast reduction in 1991, and it damaged the nipples enough that baby couldn't keep a suck on them. I pumped as long as I could, then it dried up...they got the colustrum.

C-section are okay, they freeze your lower body, your awake and strapped to a table. They cut above the pubic area, go through the muscle, the uterus get baby, 15-20 min...hubby is there the whole time, we had a video of Parker's birth. He even cut the cord. Then they sew you back up, the entire procedure is about 1 hour, then they put you in your room with baby, and the freezing wears off. You are given a very bland, mushy kind of meals...no solids because you can't poo for awhile. You will bleed and need pads just like a normal birth. 6 weeks later you should be back to normal...muscles repaired etc. You can walk after, and are encourage to do so, but it's hard for the first few days. They keep you in longer than a reg birth, and hubby needs to be home with you...you can't overdo it or you risk infection if you rips the stitch/cut area...I had a bad infection after Madelyn. The baby comes out perfect, no squished heads, easy on them.

I never went into labour at all, even when they induced me I still didn't have a contraction. Madelyn was a week overdue as well, and she was showing signs of stress on the monitors...so that c-section we were not prepared for, no pictures for a couple days. She also had her first poo (meconium black tar like substance all over her), anyways she breathed some of this and her first gasp of air caused a small hole in the lung. After 2 days of an oxygen tent it healed, and she's been fine ever since.

We went through lamaze classes and everything, but when we got pregnant with Parker we knew he'd be by c-section so we were prepared and it went alot smoother. If I get pregnant again, this one will also be c-section.

So I'm just taking every month as they come. Actually this month I was late a couple days, and I am never late. But 3 neg tests...so I was just late, but I am waiting for a blood test to see if I had any hcg in me....then I need a shot for Rh neg blood.

Most people have normal bodies and never have any issues, I seem to make up for that and have all strange things.

I'm sure you'll be fine Jo, I hope you find a great dr in Anchorage and develop a friendship of sorts so your comfortable at delivery time.

Take care
Bev

Oh my gosh. That's all very interesting to know. I can't emphasize how much I really hope that whatever is planned for you ....happens because I don't know how much more you could do!!! I didn't know those teas did all that. I'll have to drink some red rasp tea. :)

If anyone deserves another gift, it really sounds like it's you. I can't believe everything that has happened to you and you guys have still continued on ......with such a positive attitude!!! I'm not sure I could.

I'm so scared to have a C-section. I'll be emailing you a lot if I do, I'm sure! I just can't handle pain. I can't ....and will hold some doctors up against the wall until I'm drugged enough. ;) ;)

What happened to Madelyn sounds like what my sister in law's baby went through (born this past Valentine's). Same thing happened basically. Dr. didn't know what he was doing and he ate some of his poo. It killed my sister in law's husband since he is nurse who knows how to do everything.

I really hope for a second pink line for you! :( It makes me so sad to read your emails and this last post because I realize how lucky I am right now. I too have weird abnormalities with my body (well, things that "most" normal people don't have) and my husband jokes that I don't have a single organ that works right. I get mad when he says that ;) ......but it's true.

Keep me posted!!! (((hugs)))
Just wanted to say Jo that your tummy looks very small.. you dont look huge at all!!! Glad every thing seems to be going well!!!
Jo, don't drink red rasp tea until the last week of pregnancy...it will bring on contractions. I'm drinking it now to strenghten the uterus to suck in the embryo and make it stay, thickening up the walls. But I stop when I expect AF to come.

Because of Madelyn being overdue, and all the meconium on her (very hard to wash off too), we opted to have Parker 1 week early. He came out without a single problem.

99% of women I am sure go into the hospital, and deliver naturally...they will hook you up to monitors and have a pretty good idea of what state the baby is in. madelyn's heart rate had dropped twice, sending the nurses running to my room, they said one more time and you are having emergency c-section. Madelyn settled down and we ended up making the decison to it that night anyways.

You'll know ahead of time too what posiition the baby is in for delivery...you get lots of preparation time...don't worry about it. With the drugs they do a touch/pain test before they start cutting too. You'll feel them pushing and pulling the baby out, but not painful at all.

I totally took for granted how easy it was to have Madelyn and Parker, and I should have held off on the tubal job. If we could only see the impact such a decison would have on us later.

I'll keep you posted. I'm off to find to the school, Madelyn gets out soon.
I would be careful of ANY of those herbal things... I wouldn't take ANY of it without the advice of a doctor, some of them are very dangerous. The raspberry especially. Also, Daisie, it does strengthen the uterus, but it may PREVENT an embryo from ever implanting, so in my opinion it would be best not to use that while trying to get PG.

Jo, you look wonderful, but oh so tiny for 6 months! LOL
I'm sorry you're not happy with your new home in Alaska....however, you might appreciate smaller space to have to worry about when the baby comes.
All the travelling sounds stressful... make sure to take it easy as much as you can :)
C-sections IMO suck. I've had 3 of them. If I ever had another one I would attempt to have it naturally, but would probably need a section as my hips are too narrow. A doctor here in town has 5 kids, his wife had c sections with the first 4 and had the 5th naturally so I know it can be done! LOL I won't likely have any more though... so not a big concern for me.
Anyway Jo.... it sounds like you have a very busy few months ahead of you, and that's only the beginning, but it will be nice for you to finally settle in one spot and relax somewhat. I can't wait for Alaska pics! :)
With the raspberry tea I drink it until about mid way through the first half of the cycle. I know I read alot about it, and some think it will help with implantation and other say the exact opposite about it and it cause miscarriages. But they both agree it is safe in the last week of pregnancy to help with labour, or bring it on naturally.

I've been taking it to cleanse the uterus, and strenghten it before OV time. I don't know if it's helping, but I also like it is full of vitamin C and other benefits.
Daisie if you really want another baby why not get your tubes reanastimosed? There is a micro surgeon in Windsor, Ontario who has almost a 100% success rate, he is amazing. I've had an appointment with him twice, consultation and pre op testing, but never went through with the surgery. He is the best in the country, and is as good or better than the one in Kentucky who has a good reputation as well. The one in Windsor is Dr. Pattinson, the one in Kentucky is Dr. Levin.
In Windsor the consult is $100.00, and as of 2 years ago the entire cost from consult to baby is under $4000.00
You can get a flight from Alberta (I checked from Grande Prairie since I don't know here in AB you are) to Windsor, ON for under 400.00 round trip, and the hotel you would have to stay at for the weekend (surgery is on Friday, check up Monday before you go home) is right across from the hospital and you would get a much cheaper rate because it is for medical reasons. I think the hotel stay from Friday night to Monday morning would be about 200.00, plus your food.
PLUS, even though it is elective, it is still medical so it can ALL be written off in your income taxes, and you would get the entire cost of surgery back, and a huge portion of your travel expenses as well when you file for income tax.
So in total, for everything you would need about 5000.00

Just thought I'd let you know if you were interested....
Thanks Stacey, I'm gonna keep this post on file...I've heard about the Dr in the states when I first looked at getting them reversed, 6 mths after tying them...That was also when I learned how much it would cost.

Everytime we seem to have a chunk of money from something, it's gone for something else. That's the toughest part. I keep waiting tho, and as soon as I get the money free and clear that's what I'd like to do with it. I know AB health won't pay for it. There is a surgeon in Calgary too...or is that the IVF, anyways it's on my wish list. But since hubby isn't with me 100%, I can only hope for 1 to sqeeze through again LOL.

I am going to keep that dr's name tho, and who knows...I know a lady on another forum who just went through a reversal, and 2 eptopics and 1 miscarrage later she is now 7 weeks pregnant...heatbeat was there. You have to be prepared for that aspect of it too., the failures.
I honestly can tell you (willowsprite) would love Alaska more than I would!! lol

Question: What was the worst side effect of your C-sections? I got a bad feeling, so I like to dwell on things. ;) Does it hurt more to use the bathroom due to the incision they have to make? I can't imagine what it feels like to bend your body (to sit down or up).

I can't believe you've had 3!!!!! Aren't they more dangerous?
From what I understand Joaheyo, successive c-sections can create a problem as far as how you heal and the way they make the cuts. Each one could be more risky then the last. As this is my first I don't know all of it, I just know what I know from watching way too many discovery health shows...lol. We should be fine.

btw..did you get my pm?
Any surgery has risk of course, and I would not opt for a c section, I would prefer natural... however, with that said.... you never have to worry about stiches in another uncomfortable place!
Since you're not allowed to eat before a surgery you don;t have to worry about going to the bathroom for a bit. They try to make sure of that. It hurts more than I can possibly explain the first time you get out of bed and have to walk. Once you get past that hurdle though, the pain is managed and the happiness and joy of the baby really does make it all worthwhile and makes the pain seem so much less important.
As far as each c section being riskier, here at least, they do one small incision horizontally across the lowest part of your abdomen, right above the pubic bone. For most people it is a 3 inch incision that heals into a fine straight line that can barely be seen later. No matter how many c sections are done, the incision is done at the exact same spot and the old scar is removed when they sew you back up. I have one tiny line. Hardly noticeable.
All three of mine were emergency c sections. After my third, I was in the hospital less than 24 hours and went home after major surgery with a newborn, as well as my then 4 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son to care for. I had no help either, my ex husband was useless. LOL Being a mother means you will manage, no matter what... you just do. :)
For me: After both of them you are starving, and they don't want to feed you food. They want you to eat soup, jello, etc...I wanted a cheesburger so bad. So hubby snuck me in some food. I got gas so bad, it was excrutiatingly painful...you can't have a bowel movement because you just don;t have a muscle to push anymore. They need to vut through the muscle to get the uterus...so all bending, standing, rolling over, sitting up...sitting on the toilet requires help for the first couple days (use the bars, sink, something to hold on to).

By day 3, they send you home and your able to move much better, you can carry the baby but that's all they want you to lift. You are also given tylenol 3's, and I had morphine...or something for the first night. Tylenol 3's have codenine in them, they too make you constipated...take fiber pills in addition to them and lots and lots of water.

Other than that, it is easy to manage, you just do everything at a slower pace.
Cute belly. :) I've had 3 c-sections (pelvic bones are too small so I can't opt for a natural delivery), and I've never had any problems with the recoveries. My worst was my first one, but that was because I pulled a groin muscle while pushing (5 straight hours...) and it hurt to walk. The other two were a walk in the park. The key to them is to walk as soon as they let you. It hurts at first, but I promise, that'll help more than anything. I didn't take pain meds afterwards and just walked when they let me out of bed (they made me lie flat for 5-6 hours afterwards since I had spinal blocks, didn't want me to get those headaches). I was back to normal with the last two by the time I left the hospital...I couldn't stretch too much, run or anything, but it didn't hurt. Hopefully, you won't need one, but if you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them. :)
Also the better shape you were in before and during the pregnancy, the easier the recovery is for either a natural or a c-section. You have that one your side...me I was overweight...slows down the recovery of everything.
My C-section sucked!!! During the procedure..no pain.
I was released in 48 hrs... They left the baby next to me in my room and I couldn't even hold get up to hold her when she cried. I begged the nurse to take her for while. Then they finally let me out of bed at 18 hrs after the procedure. Boy did it hurt getting up the first time... Then I started doing laps around the nurses station. By the second day I could get up and pick her up... Hurt like you wouldn't believe.
Because of my chronic pain disorder I was in tons of pain for 4 weeks.
Husband did not help so I ha to take care of two kids and myself
Having a c-section was not my idea of fun.
Natural Childbirth was much easier...once it was over, the pain was gone.
The C-Section pain was like the energizer bunny...it kept going and going..
Also might have been because i was supposed to be resting..instead I was doing laundry, cleaning the house...etc
I don't mean to scare you... and everyone is different.
If I had done the bed rest I probably would have healed quicker...but that's me I can never sit still
You gotta do what you gotta do. I never even thought I would have to have a C-section, but it happens and you eventually forget about it.
