Raising 2 male littermates, any good advice?

Hi!

We just got two male OES littermates. The information out there is not favorable to raising littermates of any breed at all. Can anyone give me info that might give me a realistic, yet positive outlook?

Thanks

I have Beau and Luke who are 8. They have always gotten along well but have totally different personalities. When they were small Luke was a bit intimidated by Beau who was much bigger and had a more dominant attitude. Once time, and that's all it took, Luke got right in Beau's face and wouldn't back down. That seemed to put them on more equal footing. They aren't the best of friends but have never had any fights to speak of.
Well....it is different and twice the work! When we had our OES's back in the 80's, we also had the mother, so she kept them in their place. Now we just have just the 2 sisters and it is much different. We have found that taking them out seperately on their own leashes works much better for training. One is not jumping on the other and you can keep track who is doing their jobs and who isn't, plus the fact it helps them learn their own names. When rewarding them with a treat or greeting them we take turns making each one feel special first. Eliminates the competition. Just a few hints for a smoother start. haha
When I was younger my family had two boys from the same litter. They were not too competitive once they were older, but did have quite a few fights when they were young. We liked it because they always had eachother to play with and could learn from eachother. They each had their favorite family member, but loved us all. You could tell how much they loved eachother when one went to the vet or groomer and the other was home alone....they would mope around and wait by the door.

Training was more difficult, because they were always distracting eachother....so individual sessions are a must. They also learned to act as a team when counter surfing :D

I only have one oes now, but would have gotten another at the same time if I had the space and money.
