The Monster Inside Me

My girlfriend once gave me a book..which sadly I never read but only the back cover. It's about a nicotine monter that lives in some of us. The monster would probably die unless we continue to feed it nocotine.

Sometimes I can fell my "monster" getting weak than I go ahead and feed him agian...makes him stronger.

A word of warning...don't feed him Nicotine. He distlikes Zyban and Habibrol which I am now armed with. I'm ready to fight him and make him disentegrate once and for all. I hope I win the battle this time.

Also realize for me at the moment the computer is my "trigger" so will not spend as much time on it but a few mins...then go for a run!

Hi Everyone!

Oh how embarressing all my spelling mistakes in my first post. My mind was really elsewhere.

I've been checking online sites to reinforce my thoughts on smoking. I know I will get emotional as I'm giving up my "friend" whom I've relied on since I was 9 years old. I know nightmares are also part of normal withdrawal symptom. Last night I dreamt about monsters..lol and I was yelling..I don't smoke!

I cheated the first two days..ripping off the patch to sneak a few puffs which is really dangerous. A friend once told me the story of their co- worker who at the age of 28 had a heart attack from smoking with a nicotine patch on. It meant double dose of nicotine which affected their heart. I thought I was being smart ripping off the patch temporarily to sneak my puffs. Had to do a lot of self talk..I'm only cheating myself.

Then it happened..can't explain it as I've never given up smoking but for that one time with the help of morphine and hooked to machines. I didn't smoke at all today...didn't cheat. Stuck in traffic on the bridge for over an hour and wasn't even tempted.

I do have zyban and the patch however, and will slowly wean myself from them in the next couple weeks. I don't ever want to smoke again.

Thanks for listening. It really does help hearing your words of encouragement I can't thank you guys enough!!!

My food of choice is those little grape tomatoes...yum to die for!! Keep popping em in my mouth..that and water..sip ..sip...keeps my hands busy and also heard it's good to drinks lots the first couple days to rid the body of nicotine.

For all of you trying ...Come on keep up the good work and don't see a slip up as failure..just a slight relapse...try again. You can do it!!!

Thanks again everyone!

No one in their right mind would start smoking at age 9...stupid stupid!! My best friends grandpa would let us share a cigarette whenever he came visiting. Sounds like I'm aging myself but he probably thought it was funny and the dangers of smoking weren't as well known then.

By 12 I was completely hooked. Feeling really guilty now as my single mom worked night shift and so left money for me to buy my lunch daily. Instead I didn't eat but bought cigarettes my entire childhood and teens.

I actually need to gain weight! Don't hate me now cause being thin is not very appealing either. I weigh 99 - 100 pounds. I look way better at 107-110. That quant waif like look makes one look sickly. I often substituted a cigarette for food. I've been eating in the mornings!!! I snack on veggies and fruit which taste amazing!

I chatted with my girlfriend last night (same one whom I started smoking with in grade 4) we spoke about visualization and thinking about that book which she once lent me. We both admitted neither of us read it- only the back cover. Still we decided to picture the ugliest monster living inside us..only being kept alive by nicotine> ))))))))))))))))))))>>>>>>>>>>>
That monster is going to get zapped! LOLOL
Hmmm maybe I can help you with that visualization thing:

Visual enough?
wow. that's really powerful.
Wow...really gross....its keeping me off...
What Brian and I decided to do was put at least $20.00 a week, each into a jar and save it for a year...and use it to buy something nice for ourselves....or a nice vacation.....
Or another sheepdog? 8O
hahahahaha...Yeah......NO!
OK, time for a refresher course:
