Forum member from Slidell, LA ( Louisiana )

Hi members,

I was wondering if anyone knows who our member is from Slidell, Louisiana.

I have searched the database every which way from Sunday, but can't find any reference to Slidell, yet I recall someone's "location" as being "Slidell,LA".

Perhaps someone moved and updated their profile, but it's driving me nuts, and I'm very worried about out members in the deep south.

I know Robin (gumbo), her husband, children and oes live in New Orleans... perhaps she was from Slidell and moved to N.O?
I'm so worried about them... I just talked to her on Thursday, she was so excited about her new puppy that was supposed to arrive Saturday.
I know she evacuated, with the kids, and hubby stayed behind with the dogs. I have no idea where she evacuated TO though.
Caullet is from Sugartown, LA.
Hi yall,
How are things? We weathered the storm okay. We were on the west side and are high and dry. We had lots of family that stayed with us. When I get more time I'll post more. Any news on who is in Slidell????
Great to hear from you Caullet!!! :) I'm glad you and your family got through it ok.
That is such great news!! Glad to hear you are doing well!!
Does anyone know how Robin and her family is doing? I have been very worried about her. I hope she is able to check in soon.

Stormi and co.
I hate to hear that Robin's husband and the dogs didn't evacuate. They didn't live very far from the lake. I can't imagine things didn't get very bad. I'm sure they weren't rescuing 3 adult OES's and a pup (my little Csonka's mum and dad included) with helocopters. The ASPCA is out there trying to rescue pets. They are taking donations at:

They lived in Metairie. The canal street levee, which broke separates Metairie and New Orleans. So all that water that dumped into the NO soup bowl, came from Metaire. This is the east side and according to news reports the east side was harder hit than the west. Here are a couple of snipits of news about that area:

"6:41 P.M. - Efforts to stop the levee break at the 17th Street Canal have ended unsuccessfully and the water is expected to soon overwhelm the pumps in that area, allowing water to pour into the east bank of Metairie and Orleans to an expected height of 12-15 feet."

"Even when it is safe, many will be returning to ruins: The cities of Metairie and Kenner along Interstate Highway 10 west of New Orleans were under at least 4 feet of water, with many houses suffering structural and roof damage. The expressway, littered with downed trees and submerged in some places, was shut down by authorities."

"Every street, yard and structure in Metairie that was visible from I-10 appeared to be flooded Monday. Thousands of cars were submerged up to their door handles, shingles were peeled from roofs and swimming-pool slides and the tops of swing sets were the only items visible above the water in many back yards."

Please, if anyone hears anything, let us know.

Hi yall,
Last night chatting with Ron, I offered to help out with pets. If you hear from Robin and her family and they need help, let me know. I'll do what I can.

I hope they are all safe.
Caullett & Abbey; Glad to know you are safe as I was wondering about you!!

I believe Robin's husband's name is Ken. I've been looking on the found lists for either of them. There is a Ken George listed as being from Liddel (sp?) but I think that is a different person.
Im so happy everyone so far is safe.I live in a small town in Wi,and my best friend is getting churches to help bring some of the storm victims up too Wi, too live w/ families here til they either go home OR get on their feet here.I think it is a very noble thing too do.Once again YAY!!!!!!!All is safe w/ our sheepie friends in the south!! :D
I was able to find a post katrina image of Robin's neighborhood and it looks like it is still standing and not currently flooded.

Cool!

It does look like West of the 17th Street Canal everything is dry! How awesome is that?

That gives hope.
I'm so glad to hear that our members are safe! I've been frantic this past week with no internet access, and no way to find out what was going on with everyone! Anyonme heard anything from or about Robin and Ken?

Karen
I've been searching the "Safe" lists for Robin and Ken. Does anyone know their children's names?
