A question of Pumpkins?

Hey, hey!

I've always been curious - so, a question for all of you on the other side of the pond: What does the work PUNKIN mean exactly?

I've heard it used as a term of affection (usually to children) in films and always assumed they were saying "pumpkin" as a cutesey knickname, but apparently not... :?

You are right it is just the word pumpkin used in slang. I call my children punkin sometimes, and growing up I had a black persian cat named Punkin Puss.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
