dog park time warp

This is a human antic but I have to share it with you guys. I just got back from the dog park. Bailey and I got there at about 7:15pm, and I felt bad because it was already nearly dark and the others dogs were either tired, or leaving. Fortunately, about 15 minutes later a guy named Mike showed up with his golden retriever Charlie. This was perfect, because Mike would throw the frisbee, Charlie would fetch the frisbee, Bailey would run with Charlie, everyone was happy. So Mike and I are making small talk, and I said something along the lines of I can't believe how dark it is, the days are really getting shorter. And Mike, who seems to be in his 30s, says, Yeah, I thought it would be light by now. I figure he meant it would still be light, since it's night. A while later he looks at his watch, looks to the east, and says "It's almost 8 oclock. I can't believe it's still dark. There must be a storm out there." What do you say to a total stranger who appears to be 12 hours off? He seemed normal, didn't appear drunk. I still figured that I might be misunderstanding him. But, as we were finally walking back to the parking lot, he said "have a great day!" At this point it was too late for me to say anything about it, so I just waved and laughed all the way home. I suppose, in a few hours, he'll realize that it's not morning. I wonder if he thought it was Saturday morning or Sunday morning?

That is so strange and hilarious! What a kook! That's really funny. I hope you run into him again so you can find out how the rest of his "day" went. . .
Yeah, but when should she go.... if he was truly off by 12 hours, then she needs to go in the morning, right?

Maybe he was just kidding and playing a little mind game with you, trying to get YOU to believe that it was morning, or to ask him about it, as a way to break the ice? I'll have to remember this approach for my next reincarnation.
How odd.... lol
Very Strange...lol
That's hilarious! You should've called him out on it. Maybe he works weird shifts and he's way off. Or maybe he's just on crack or something. If you see him again you should do it to him first!
Sue....that is really wierd!!!!! Did you give him a strange look!?
No, I didn't call him on it or give him a strange look because I was convinced I was hearing him wrong! I'm betting he does some kind of shift work and his schedule was just messed up because he seemed perfectly normal aside from that. I do hope we run into him again because his golden Charlie was very sweet and gave Bailey someone to run, run, run with - which is the whole point of the dog park outings. Most of the time the dogs are all just circled around sniffing each other and trying to be the "big dog" which may be fun from a dog perspective but doesn't burn off enough energy. I want to make sure Bailey is tired by the time we get home
