Help OES is licking fur off front legs

Our Woolie will be 8 months on Nov 26th. He has been crate trained and does really well. He is a great dog all the way around. About a month ago I came home to find that he had licked/chewed the fur off his one leg. It didn't stop so we took him to the vet who told us it is really hard to pinpoint why they do it. But to use bitter apple spray on the area to prevent him from doing it again. We already leave music on for him when we are not at home. We had him nuetered two weeks ago and we noticed that he got to the hair on his back legs, right below his bum. Last thing, his coat is really changing from black to grey all of a sudden. Could that be making him itchy? It is just a puzzlement to us. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Your PuP is going through his teen years. When a dog is left crated for long period of times they become BORED! OES love to groom themselves. You had him neutored and he is over-grooming that area now too!
You will need to figure out the solution but ... here's that cheap advise you hear about:
Make sure to leave a chew toy that will not come apart for him to take some of his energy out on.
Walk him a mile before leaving home in the morning and another big walk when you get home. I started walking mine a mile in the morning and we got up to two miles at night before she became ill (due to an autoimmune response). We still walk about a mile and half a day. And I have lost 20 pounds in four months, just to the walking. And it is only taking about a hour a day to do it.
Change out his toys and bones every couple of days. Try to figure out if he likes to watch TV. Give him something else to occupy his time.
Make sure he has a balanced diet and does not have an eczemia that is irritating him. Comb out any beginnings of mats, so he doesn't chew on them. As a mat grows it can pull at the skin and twist it around, which leads to the dog pulling out its own hair in aggravation.
Think of ANYTHING that you could do to give your pet a healthy outlet for pent up energies of every sort.
Put old socks on his feet. Childrens or toddlers work best. Don't be upset if he chews them off, it kept him busy. Mine doesn't bother with the socks for some reason, but will chew dog booties to shreds.
Good luck and let us know if you come up with any better ideas of your own!
Thank you for such good advice. I like the idea of mixing the toys up. But of course ones he cannot destroy! He eats a diet of only IAMS and loves raw carrots for treats. The walk is a very good idea. We take a short one in the am but will make it longer and also after work too. Thank you again.
We tried getting Abbi to eat carrots, but she mouths them and drops them at our feet. She'll eat apples, but no carrots, celery , or almost any vegie?
The reason this upsets me the most, is she cannot eat anything with eggs or milk in it without getting very messy a while later! I have been told to switch her to veggie treats, but I haven't found one she goes for yet. Tried raw pumkin, but she still wouldn't eat it.

I hope the walks help. My girls went back to school and Abbi became very despondent and start licking her paws all the time. Turned out to be an allergy, but she had done it before when I left her in the crate after she was spaded. The vet said it was due to over-grooming. And she had a fur ball after that too -- kept coughing like. Had to give her a high fiber diet for a while.
I cannot believe a dog can be so child like, but they do seem to thrive on attention... They are just like perrenial two year olds. If you don't watch it they hurt themselves.
