fleas!

Sarah has fleas, I'm a super paranoid person and so I may be overreacting, but I don't want her to be uncomfortable. I was brushing her last night and found a couple of fleas and many eggs, I sent Simon to an all night drug store but the shampoo he came back with seemed so incredibly toxic that I just put on the flea collar and that helped her to stop itching a little.
I combed through her hair and removed as many as I could, but I know I can't do that every day, she'll scratch off her beautiful coat. I hope to go home in about an hour armed with the best defense possible. Please help!

Pick up some Frontline at your vet's office. It starts killing fleas very quickly and your dog should be flea free within 24 hours. We have a real problem with them in my area. I use Frontline on both my dogs every 21 days and do the lawn treatments as well.

Good luck! :D
Agreed. Frontline will knock them right out. My Lucy is allergic to flea bites so we always nip them in the bud before they start.
Vote for Frontline also! We use K9 Advantix now, and it's working great!
We use frontline too, after I, yes, I, brought home fleas 8O Long story short, dont sit on someones nasty sofa...especially if they have dog and cat feces on the carpets and just step over them...like they're not there..what I do for my job..lol...It was harder to get them out of my sofa than getting them off of Panda.......
*touch wood* LOL We haven't seen a single flea this year, but if we do I have advantage ready for them.
Darcy - eeuuwww!! You deserve a raise!

:o
We haven't had to deal with fleas, but I did work for a pest control company many moons ago! Remember to give the house a REALLY good vaccuum and THROW OUT the vaccuum bags (lots of people forget that step  )

If you sprinkle Borax on your furniture and rugs and leave it on for about an hour (of course not near the dogs...put them in another room while doing this) then vacuum. The Borax is a powder that dries up the fleas and eggs. This is what we did when Merlin had fleas last year. We never had a problem after I did that.
Thanks Wizardmerlin, Now you tell me.......I used flea powder and spray and vacuuming etc till finally I had to rent a steam cleaner and hot spray those buugers out of there......Brian thought it was really funny (he sits on a leather recliner...) he never got bit once...I looked like I had the chicken pox.....Nasty....like I said "Watch where you sit and whose house you're sitting at!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Here's an interesting article from Dr. M. Katz,DVM
