I don't know much except that the sheepie is a boy from a family that has never owned a OES before and he "got in trouble with his family". I have no idea of the extent of the "trouble" but as I remarked to the rescue angel, this family has obviously not owned a sheepie before! As that is almost a daily occurance! For crying out loud, even the breed discription of an OES is "clown-like" if they had done any research before getting this poor guy! The rescue org. had been counciling the family for some time, but it sounds as if they really just expected the gorgeous puppy to grow up being "good" all by himself without any training! I really hope that we can give him the home he so deserves! GG is such a gentle playful pup in need of a sheepie sibling!  It would just be so great for him too!

| Thanks so much for all the positive energy! I think it's working! I got a reply this morning from the rescue! His name is Murphy and he finally made it to the rescue!
It seems like the Mom of the owner mom (so his evil grandma) has a little lap dog that is really mean! This seems to be how Murphy got into "trouble"! I guess he went after this dog! But, the rescue angel said that while they were there (yes...evil grandma brought the mean little dog for a "ride" to bring Murphy to the rescue ) Murphy went up to the dog, on EG's lap to sniff him, and the M.D. snapped and snarled at him, and Murphy just backed away! So the initial evaluation is that Murphy might not be the problem in that family! DUH! I'm having a really hard time with the whole situation, AS IF THEY BROUGHT THE DOG HE SUPPOSEDLY WENT AFTER WITH THEM TO SURRENDER HIM TO THE RESCUE! It just seems so heartless!
She also suspects that he is from a well known puppymill in Quebec (I'm not sure I'm allowed to post the name...though I want to drive there with a big bus at midnight and take all the babies away to safety!) She was told that he has had all his shots, but she called the vet and that is not the case, he hasn't even been checked for Heartworm! He has been neutered (Thankfully!) and microchipped, but the microchip doesn't work!
I'm so happy that he is finally at the rescue getting some love and attention! It just sounds like EG (evil grandma) just didn't give him a chance! Hopefully all is well with his socialization with other OES's that won't snap and snarl at him, and he is on his way to a happy life! Even if he isn't the right fit for us (hopefully he is!) he's going to finally be happy!
As soon as I hear more, I will let you all know! I haven't heard how his last 2 nights were there as I received my info on Friday nite! Hopefully, she will have time to give me an update today! Thanks again everyone! Please keep the positive thoughts coming, just a little longer!

Good luck; I hope you get the dog. However may I ask the relative age and sex of GG and the rescue? If you've never owned two dogs at once, you might read my posts about getting Maggie http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=4155 Quite an experience! Barney was 9 mo., Maggie was supposed to be 2 yrs old, good disposition, current on all her shots. The original owner had to give her up because of several back operations. A "friend" took care of the dog - had her for 1 month, kept outside 24/7 during the hot month of June. When we looked at her she was dirty, stinky, and matted; the vet said her health was good but she was a year behind on her shots. No big deal. The big surprise? She and Barney fought like cat and dog. I didn't realize this was part of two dogs determining which one was alpha. With the help of a trainer and a lot of valuable support from members of the forum, I learned how to control the situation so they would not roughhouse in the house, then gradually let them work things out themselves when they were outside. They can now spend the day together outside (if it's not over 90), although I've had to adjust to the results. Whereas before Maggie came along, Barney got all the attention, and always was along side me when I worked at the desk, now Maggie has assumed that position, and Barney is lucky if she lets him in the room with me. I feed them separately, otherwise Maggie would eat her's and Barney's food. Maggie does have some minor behavior issue that leads me to suspect that someplace along the line she was mistreated (she cowers and shows her teeth if I put her in her room at night). They're getting along and I'm glad I've got her; however while they are company for each other, it's not the way I expected. So what's new. Again good luck, be prepared for surprises and enjoy the added excitement. |
| It is also good to remember that sometimes dogs of the same sex don't get along due to domination issues. I had that problem with two female great danes a long time ago. |

Murphy is having a rough few days it seems! She says he is very insecure. Poor baby! I guess she says also, there are a couple of real barkers being boarded there right now that are not helping the situation. Murphy is 4 years old, from all accounts but she hasn't checked his teeth yet, she is waiting until he is more comfortable with her. I am hoping to go out for a visit in the next week, not sure if I will bring GG for the first visit? She will let me know.
I was surprized to hear he was 4 years old! Poor thing with that evil grandma for that long!
We are looking forward to meeting Murphy! I will let you all know as soon as we know!
Thanks for the info on socialization! Yes, I was concerned about them both being males as well! I have also learned over the years that it's usually females with the attitude!  And most boys I know are more laid back! So I actually might be more inclined to be more nervous if Murphy was a girl! But it really does come down to individual personalities of pups doesn't it? Just a thought.

I have 3 boys and 1 girl. The boys get along great and always have. Daisy is the "problem", she acts just like a girl  moody and crabby. They'll be fine. GOOD LUCK! It sounds like Murphy really needs you and GG(will he get his own pink slipper ) |

I really am crossing my fingers for you and hope it works out. I know the first day I brought Panda home...Merlin was in 7th heaven...he found someone who enjoyed chasing as much as he loved to be chased. Within a week all that changed.  It was if Merlin said...whaddya mean you're staying for good? He became bossy and won't let Panda play at all. Blue has gotten worse instead of better over time. As a result I've had to take Panda out daily to let him run and play at his leisure as he's the odd man out.
Different scenerio as three males is difficult. Some are really fortunate as the sheepies hit it off right away and are great company for each other. Some have minor scrimages which is to be expected with a new sibling. Whatever happens best of luck to you and I really want this to work out for you!!!!. Marianne and the boys |
| UPDATE:
I just got an e-mail from our rescue! Murphy is starting to settle in nicely! YAY! She said that there walks are going well and she has allowed him off lead on their way back, and he follows her! He also brought a ball to her yesterday and dropped it, then started wiggling his bum! MURPHY has got his WIGGLE BACK!
She feels that he will be comfortable enough to have his vet visit now and I am so happy and anxious to meet him! SOON!

Please keep us updated. I hope all works out for you. You never know until you put the two dogs together what will happen. When I brought Mollie home, Tahje male shi-poo got along very well with Mollie. They were like very best friends. When Beau arrived on the scene, he had those sharp baby teeth and didn't understand why the other two didn't want to play with him. (Beau kept biting Mollie's ears)
Now, it's just Tahje and Beau and Tahje tries very hard to ignore Beau. Poor Beau, he just wants to play at all of 8 months. Looking forward to your updates. |

I received an email from the rescue and Murphy is doing AWESOME! She has invited us out....FINALLY GOING TO MEET HIM! I am waiting to hear whether tomorrow or Friday works for her!
I have asked that I can bring GG, she didn't mention that in her email, and I just think it's so important that they have a couple of meetings! I think from all of your advice, you all think that too, so I hope she allows GG to come with me! Then the next step is her coming to our place to see where we live and how they do here! We're getting there!
She didn't send a picture but I will bring my camera and take some to share with you! Hopefully they are pics of the two boys having fun! She says he gets along with everyone EXCEPT the rescue Maggie who doesn't like him! She cannot figure out why!
Poor Maggie has had 4 homes already! She is on the OESOCC.org website with a big smile! She is in Quebec, close to Ottawa, Ontario if anyone knows of ANYONE! It appears as though she would have to be an only child though!

We are having schedualing problems with the Rescue! I'm going to try to head up on Sunday before I go to my annual girl's getaway! And the rescue lady has a big birthday party to go to on the Saturday! This is CRAZY!

| Just wanted to let you all know that we are leaving at 9AM tomorrow for the drive to see MURPHY! I'm so excited!
Grant is in town this weekend, so we are both going, with The Guc of course! It's a 2 and a half hour drive so that's 5 hours in the car with GG! The ride home won't be an issue, as I'm praying he is tired from PLAYING! But the ride there might be a little crazy!
I have the digital all cued up and I will post them on Wednesday when I'm back from the Girl's Getaway! OMG I just realized that I won't be on the forum for 3 whole days! I'm going to have withdrawl!
YAY YAY! I also found out that the rescue lady shows sheepies as well! I wonder how many she has? I hope a TONNE! That will give me my sheepie fix before I leave GG with his daddy for 2 whole nights!

| WE MET MURPHY!
GG and Murphy got along really well! Murphy will be coming to our house after I get back from Winnipeg, probably in early September! I've put a picture of him in the picture forum under Misc. he's beautiful! He's got one blue and one brown eye and he's VERY lovey! He talked to me alot, telling me all about his life! And really loves to be pet and cuddled! Guc had NO problem with this as long as he payed attention to him too! Murphy has a two digit tail (I love his "nub") that wagged the whole time we were there! It broke my heart to have to leave him when it was time to go! I swear he was saying, didn't you like me? Why can't I come with you NOW? That was the worst part of our trip!
We were there for 2 and a half hours and there was no problems at all between the new brothers! Murphy is quite a bit smaller than GG, but seems in good health and weight! He's got some bad teeth but we'll get those sparkely in no time!
It really went better than I could have hoped and the rescue lady seemed so happy too! YAY!

We can hardly wait to get him home! I just want this stupid fence up, so GG and Murph can run and play! I wouldn't want anyone to run away!
But at least we have met each other and everyone is loving everyone! I think he stole Grant's heart! So that will be my plan for all future sheepies! Get Grant to fall in love with them, so they have to come home with us!

MURPHY IS MOVING IN TOMORROW MORNING! I went and bought a new crate for him so he can get away for The Gooch when he wants, food and yummy treats! I'm really excited! I'm going to try to get some sleep tonight as I'm thinking since the poor guy hasn't been in a house for a long time, he may be a little hard to settle for the first few nights! The lady from the rescue said she was going to tell him that he was going to sleep in a real house tomorrow! I hope that made him happy!

No, sniff sniff! We are volunteering that weekend for our local rescue group B.A.R.K. though! It's only an hour drive with the sheepies...that's about all I can fathom right now! But there is always next year! Especially since my lease will be up on my convertable...I will be getting a larger more sheepie friendly vehicle!
