Murphy in Michigan -- hard to believe

This is such a sad thing -- a 9 year old sheepdog was given up by his family because he plays too rough with another dog ??? That's so mean. He looks like such a good fella too. . . I can't tell if he's in rescue or a humane society. Does anyone have room for him?

That's so sad.... how could they keep him for 9 years and then just give him up?
That's just wrong! Give up your baby?! Obviously they never heard of obedience classes..would you give up your toddler?
toddler? maybe -- but your 9 year old?? :(
given his age, maybe its more like sending gramps to an old folks home? whatever it is, it just seems so heartless.
That's just rotten! Poor baby!

Maybe "Gramps" had to move in with them, and because of the rough play, they had to make a choice??? Maybe the other dog belongs to "Gramps." Do you keep yours, or have him give up his? Maybe this....maybe that.......maybe.......?????????

After having the dog for 9 years, I know it wasn't an easy decision to make. Maybe another factor played a part in why they couldn't at least keep the dog outside. We don't know all the details. I feel there may be more to this story than what was told. At least I hope so! Maybe, maybe not.

Sometimes a situation developes where its in their best interest to let them go. An article can be missing a word or two, that if inserted, may give you a differant outlook on the person you're reading about. Don't be too quick to judge those of us that have had to give up animals. Some of "us" also find it hard to accept the fact that people can do that (for whatever reason.) And, we sure never thought we'd ever become one of those that did.
That's a good point. Definitely there are situations in which it is better for both family and pet to give the dog up. In fact, I have complete sympathy for the family that gave me Chumley. But this story just sounded really callous. If there were a better story to tell. I guess I think they would tell it.
Lake Odessa is roughly halfway between Lansing and Grand Rapids. I will be going back to Traverse City on Sunday and could leave early to check him out if anyone is interested, just let me know. This poor guy needs a great home, and soon.
Oh I hope someone can give him a good home soon!!!
Murphy has been taken off the list due to aggression problems. No idea if/when he will be adoptable.
The poor guy!
