Anyone ever use Adequan injections for their dog for arthritis?
Can you share your experiences if you did?
Did it help? Hurt? No difference?

Long time ago with Sam. Initially it worked for a while but then less and less. We got about 3-4 months relief.
I tried it with Brick a few weeks ago.
Gave him the injection of a Friday afternoon.

Within a few hours, he looked wobblier than normal; like he was kinda drunk.
The next morning he had explosive diarrhea and was having difficulties.
Brought him to the ER. They gave him sub q fluids and metronidazole. He was better by Sunday.

Not trying it again.
Found it to be a complete waste of time, money and false hope, but others swear by it.
Acupuncture, too.
Sydney has been on Adequan for three months now. Not sure I would "swear" by it but she nows goes up and down stairs with ease and a good friend's Great Dane is doing really well on it. Adequan is not available in Canada so we have to travel to the US to get it. So far its been worth the trip.

Since Oakley's passing last year, Sydney has been so depressed that it was hard to determine if she was slowing down due to age or if it was depression over Oakley's death. She lost 19 pounds and we were so worried that we would loose her as well :( Like you, we were trying to do anything and everything to keep her comfortable and happy. We found going back to our small sheepdog play group really helped and with time she has accepted she is an only child! Luckily I am still involved in fostering (albeit no longer sheepdogs) and Sydney still delights in showing the new "one" the backyard!

Give Zeke and Brick a gentle hug from us....they will take comfort and support each other. We shed a lot of tears watching Sydney "take care" of Oakley. She was his eyes and ears and never left his side for his last few weeks with us. Dogs are such wonderful creatures!
We used Adequan on Quincy for months following his elbow surgery, and did not see any improvement.

I hope that Brick is doing better, and that Zeke is having good days as well.
