Trazodone for. Anxiety

Hi

Tilly gets this anxiety attacks every once in a while, she start walking around and panting, try to hide in a small spaces or get in top of you and set so close that crush your legs and feet, she is desperate and nothing calm her down, I was giving another medication for but the last one lasted close to 4 hr and her eyes were bloodshot and really scare me a lot.

Now she is in Trazodone 50 mg pills, 2 pills twice a day ! Anybody has experience with this? I give her her medication tonight and she is not doing nothing but sleep after she ate.

Please give me you opinion, I just want to do the best for my little girl

Thank you

Monica~~Is there at reason for Tilley's panic attacks? Millie, my beardie, had really bad anxiety when storms were here. The vet prescribed something like Trazodone. It did help her. Please keep us updated on her~~~we all care!!!!

Hugs!!!!

I really don't know what trigger the attacks, she just suddenly start panicking and is no way to stop her, I wish I could figure it out . The doctor giver xanax and she was doing ok but the last attack was a bad one, now the change medicines and I don't know she had 3 attacks in the row this morning 1 hours apart I was giving her 2 pills doctor say increases to 3 , but am afraid , she calm down but she don't play or seems happy, looks like she is on drugs, tonight I just give her 2 pills and am not sure if I want to give her the 3rd one.

I will keep and eye on her and if she need it I will give her the other one and I am going to talk to the doctor on Friday to see if I can give the medication like one other day, I really will like my happy , bossy girl back !
Monica~~keep us updated....How old is she?? Can she have some form of dementia???? When Pearl got to be 13, she began staring at the wall ?? My vet said as some dogs age they develop a sort of dementia...just a thought...
I don't have any advice, but just sending some hugs and Sheepie love to Tilly. Poor baby. Hope you find some answers, Monica.
Tilly is doing better, I reduce the amount of pill from 3 to just one twice a day and look like that maintains her really good, the only thing is that she has diarrhea:-( but I got my little bossy girl back, sometimes she is a little lethargic but we can manage.

She is playing again and acts ok, I guess if she need it I will give her more but for the time been she is ok
That's great news Monica.
Hopefully the diarrhoea will settle as she gets used to the meds.
UPDATE ON TILLY

Tilly had an attack last Tuesday that lasted from 7 am until 11 pm , and she only went to sleep because she was very tired and I was rubbing the back of her ears like for 45 minutes !

After that I call the doctor first thing in the morning and complain that the only thing that medicine was doing was giving her more attack more often, that I need her put back on her old medication. After we talk for like half hour she agree with me , so she is back on her xanax , she is doing much better, we up her dosage a little bit with out to reach the maximum and that seems to help. I need to got to pick up more medication for her today.

Let see what happen, my poor baby was pacing so bad and could not go to sleep or relax and her regular vet was out of the office, so neither her or me could get any rest on Tuesday only until I scratch her ears while I was working she can a plop in the floor next to me and sleep all night , she did not even get up for her 3 am treats.

I hope this time it works, at lest better
How awful for both of you. Poor baby.
I hope the meds work well and you all get some good rest. :crossed:
