Presciption GI food and soft poops

Any one have any experience with the prescription GI foods and soft poops?
Do all the brands cause soft poops?

Brick's poops have been soft since being on it.
He's eating the Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal formula.

Just wondered if all the GI formulas give soft stools or just the Royal Canin brand.

He's eaten Purina Pro Plan his whole life up to this point.

My dog was put on this diet and experienced the same soft stool, to the point that his anal glands couldn’t be properly expressed and had to be regularly emptied by the vet tech. The food may just be too digestible for him causing a lack of faecal bulk. We tried probiotics but it didn’t help much. Then we gave him soaked whole oats, which is indigestible (1 tablespoon for every 10-20 pounds of dog), we saw results after 2-3 days but it wasn’t optimum. We are now feeding him a turkey neck every other day and his stools are bigger and firmer, no more scooting. We’ll go to the vet soon to have his glands checked and revaluate the diet choice. I can’t say if other brands cause the same issue, haven’t tried any other.

Which brand of GI food did you feed him?

I've also been giving Brick Purina FortiFora probiotic for the last 10-11 days and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I dropped off a sample with the vet on Thursday. They have to send it to a lab for a more in-depth analysis. Should have results Wednesday or Thursday.
For the first two years of Oscar's life, we tried about 10 different foods, from lo-res to different protein sources, until we found that he tolerated venison the best out of all of them This is going back a decade, so I am sure there are many more options on the market today.

Hill's Prescription Diet Lo-Res did not do a thing for Oscar. He could not tolerate lamb, either, which is in many "sensitive tummy" dog foods. We also found out that he couldn't tolerate chicken - this is important as sometimes chicken fat is used as a last ingredient additive while a different protein source is featured on the bag. (I imagine they can do this as chicken fat is technically not protein.)

Oscar did the best on canned venison, not kibble. The best we could determine is that the canned food is sort of "pre-digested", therefore Oscar's digestive system could expend more energy removing the water, rather than trying to break down the hard kibble. We found this out after one of his pancreatic episodes, when our vet had us reintroduce him to food using the canned version of his kibble. He did so well that we never transitioned him back, and started using kibble for treats only. The canned food was also better for giving pills, in our experience.

Poor Brickie.

Results came back today.
Clean.

So I'll start transitioning him to Purina's GI food.
He's always done well with Purina food his whole life, so I hope that would continue with their GI formula.
Glad the results came back clean, though it does not help solve the problem.

To answer your question, I've been feeding my dog :
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Gastrointestinal Fiber Response dry dog food
https://www.royalcanin.com/products/roy ... -food/3959

Like I said it did not help. Only raw turkey necks worked. I'm still at a lost to which dog food to try next. I'll be looking at the Purina formula you mentioned.
The vet persuaded me to choose the Royal Canin brand but I may go back to Acana and Orijen, it's what I feed my Belgian Sheepdogs (don't remember at what age I started them on it, but the brand was quite new) and they lived to be 17 years old, with no other health issue than old age.

Does anyone has any experience feeding their dog Acana and/or Orijen?
The only food (kibble) that doesn't upset Sprocket's tum is Jameswellbeloved-turkey and rice. I thing they do a GI food.xx
