AKC Breed Video

I have a 2 year old OES. One of the many things I love about the breed is the fact that they don't shed (or, they don't shed like a dog with fur--labs, goldens, etc.). So, why does the breed video on AKC's website say, "The Old English Sheepdog is known to shed, so if you have an aversion to dog hair, you may want to consider another breed." There's a local pet shop selling sheepadoodles for $1000. Their main selling point is they're hypoallergenic and they don't shed. If people are buying sheepadoodles because they don't shed, shouldn't it be important for people to know that they can buy a purebred OES, not mixed with poodle, and they still don't shed? :?

Does anyone know who to contact with the AKC to get that information corrected?

Thanks!

I can't help you with your AKC query but just like labradoodles, sheepadoodles are not necessarily hypoallergenic.
There is only a certain proportion who are, there is a test to check to find out.
Shedding and hypoallergenic are not the same thing.
I agree. Unfortunately, that information was coming from one of the pet shop employees. I don't generally step foot in puppy-selling pet shops, haven't been in one in years. Obviously, there are plenty of irreputable sheepie breeders out there, but it broke my heart to actually see those puppies in front of me. Also, made me angry.
We have a Sheepadoodle - (no we didn't buy him from a breeder, we adopted him from the folks who did) and I can attest to the non- shedding statement. But then, like you say, our Sheepie didn't shed either. It's unfortunate that people confuse non-shedding with hypoallergenic; it's just part of the sales pitch.
