Show Me Sheepdogs

Hi everyone, I am very new to this site and would appreciate everyone's help. I am interested in getting my very first OES I have always wanted one since I was a kid. To me they are the most adorable dogs. I have been searching breeders and came across "Show me Sheepdog " has anyone ever heard of them or know anything about them, I would greatly appreciate any advance. And also I live in New Orleans. Do anyone know of any breeders close to me.

Thanks in advance

your best bet for finding a healthy, well bred Old English Sheepdog is to use the breeder referral resources on the Old English Sheepdog Club's website. YOu can find breeders by state or region, and reach out the them via email or is some cases there are phone number,s and inquire about starting the process of adding an OES puppy to your family!

Also: be patient. You may not hear immediately, and puppies from a breeder you like may not be available for a while.

I love my sheepdogs but I was not patient and I stupidly helped support someone who has no business breeding puppies. Sophie and Sherman are paying for that carelessness. I've had a sheepdog from a good breeder and ones from not so good breeders. Trust me: waiting for a good, healthy, sound puppy is worth it, for your puppy's sake. And for all the puppies that come after.
I'll agree with that sentiment. I was on a waiting list for our first sheepdog, and saw there was a littler two towns over from us. So I dumped the waiting list and gave in to the adorable fuzzy cutie-pies in my own area.Needless to say, it was the wrong way to go. The dogs I got from that breeder (I use the term loosely) cost less, but I paid so much more in vet bills and to help and try and train them to accommodate for their aggressive behavior issues. It seemed a good or maybe a more convenient decision at the time, but I've had 8 years to regret not staying on that waiting list.

We love those two dogs to pieces, but it cost us a fortune in vet bills, its been a heart breaking journey working with aggressive dogs, and its certainly not a thing most people could manage, financially or time-wise. On the other hand, we just this past summer got a pup from a very reputable breeder I've been waiting on a very long time (I had my eye on the stud dog and wanted one of his puppies) and we could not be happier with the outcome! Our new pup is just brilliant!!!
Thank all of y'all for ur sound advice, I will be contacting a breeder off the list this weekend. Me and my daughter is so excited we're like a kid waiting for Christmas.

So again I say thanks a lot.
Judi's Harry is a Show-Me dog and so is Val's Willow. Both are nice dogs. Linda Gunnufson is an OESCA breeder. :yay:
I am on my 3rd OES....My first was from the Humane Society, and I can honestly say I lucked out when we adopted our sweet Pearl. She lived to be 15, was a therapy dog, a Dog Scout and performance dog (RA Rally). She was even temperament and joyful and we were blessed to have her for such a long time.

My second OES, was from Gwynedd Kennels, Allene Hutcheson a reputable, OESCA approved breeder. 'Heart' was my, well, heart and she was a therapy dog, a Dog Scout,a Performance dog (RE Rally/CD Obedience). She lived to be 6 years old and went to Rainbow Bridge way too soon from Lymphoma. I firmly believe that her breeding had nothing to do with her cancer and she made an immense impact on many people, including the forum members. I still shed tears for my little Heart. :hearts: :hearts:

My third OES was from SHOW ME KENNELS, LINDA GUNNUFSON, a reputalbe OESCA approved breeder. Willow came to me at about 4 months of age, and, from the start, she has been a wonderful, happy, and yes, joyful sheepie!!! She is about 2.5 years old and is a therapy dog and she is beginning her 'career' as a performance dog. Linda is a sweet person, who is very involved in her puppies. We have a close relationship and I depend on her for her great advice and direction. Willow was the answer to my prayers after I lost Heart, and she is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although at this time I am pretty sure Allene or Linda do not have any puppies now, if I were you, I would contact them through email to see if or when they will be breeding again....

Good Luck and keep us posted!!!!!!!!

We brought home Harley four years ago. He was a little over a year old. He has been a complete joy. He is beautiful, healthy, and very loving. Linda G. Could not have been nicer. Excellent experience, I could not have asked for more.
