London 5/3/2005-10/27/2015

Hard to believe 10 years has passed. This forum is the reason why we went with the OES breed and adopting London. London was the perfect dog- not only he had a goofy personality (like all sheepies) but he loved traveling with us. We were living in Rochester at the time when we brought him home and then our schools and jobs took us to San Francisco and Boston. He was with us everywhere we went -- camping, road trips, vacations. We recently moved back to Rochester 3 months ago where London was first raised. Yesterday, we had to put our sweet boy to sleep after 3 weeks of fighting carcinoma. We were heartbroken and had hoped to prolong his life by draining fluid from his stomach every week but the cancer was far too aggressive. What was heartbreaking is his mentality was there - he still wiggled, cuddled and ate... Physically he was in pain and we could tell that he wanted to live for us but we knew it wasn't fair for him. So yesterday, we celebrated his life by treating him to Five Guys Burgers (although he much prefers In n Out) and a lazy day at Mendon Ponds where he sniffed the cold, crispy air and romped one last time.

People tell us time will heal but there will always be a huge hole in our hearts. We miss our loveable crazy blue eyed guy.

Having just gone through this ourselves I understand your loss and pain. Be comforted in knowing you made the right decision. For us it is now two months later and it is getting easier, but it leaves a huge hole in your heart and life. Run free and healthy London. Oscar is there with you.

I'm so sorry about London. It is heartbreaking but eventually the hole heals to where it is bearable. You will always have London in your hearts.
Dang, too many old friends leaving us! I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm glad he really tried to hang on but it could not be left to render him helpless. Run free London. :ghug:

I am so sorry that London is not with you in the physical sense of the word. But, please believe that he is still in your heart, mind and soul. We, on this wonderful forum, understand what you are going through since we all have been there.

Personally, I do not think it gets easier, but, time will help you heal by all the wonderful memories, cuddles, kisses, and unconditional love London has freely given you and you, him.

I can picture, in my mind, him running pain free across Rainbow Bridge where there are many many sheepie urging him home. I imagine, they play, run, swim and chase little critters most of the day, but at some point, they look down to earth the make sure you are ok.

We are here for you! With understanding, empathy and support~~so please do not hesitate to post when things get too hard.

Hold tight to the great memories. I'm so sorry for your lists of London
missing you, London. It's still so hard. My husband and I still cannot stop tearing up at the thought of you.

The other day we saw a labradoodle sitting in the drivers seat of the car and emotions washed over me. London loved to wait for us in the drivers seat whenever we were on the road. We have since welcomed a rescue (a deaf PBGV) named Watson to keep Tony (our sheepie) company.. Funny and loveable dog but definitely not a sheepie. :) We will always have at least one sheepie in our lives.
