Looking to rehome Shelby-our 1.5 yr old

Unfortunately we are looking to rehome our OES, Shelby. She is a 1.5 year old female in excellent health, extremely intelligent, AKC registered and has some behavioral issues that will need correction. We truly believe Shelby will thrive in a smaller family structure [we are 5] and with a strong handler. My wife and my oldest daughter are lax on Shelbys training and this is where our issue comes from-if everyone is not onboard with Shelby's training Shelby will find the weak link and test them. This is our 2nd OES so we know their stubbornness and "I can do it better" attitude can be a challenge!

Shelby does not like going to the Vets or Kennel- we have put her on meds to get her through her vet visits and that has helped a lot but still needs work. Due to that fact Shelby has bit her vet and has done the same at the Kennel. She gets scared at both and acts out. Shelby is very friendly with strangers- its when someone grabs her collar that she acts out. We reached out to Jennifer at NEOES Rescue but due to Shelby's bite history she can not accept Shelby and we understand Jennifer's concerns.

Enough on the bad!- Shelby has extensive training and can easily be walked off leash and responds well to commands. Sit, stay, come, lay down, move, closer, stop, wait, too far, heel, stay close are her best commands. Loves to play ball, crate trained, loves walks, bath time is one of her best "treats" and 99% of the time is a great dog. She really is a big clown and amazes us with her antics and is a great "buddy" in the yard. Shelby has been around young children with no issues. Loud noises do not bother her [go figure!]

We really hate to rehome her but she needs a committed handler[s] which we can not provide. If you feel you would like to talk about Shelby please reach out to me and I will respond as soon as I can. We are located in Massachusetts- Cape Cod.

Thank you for reading
Paul

Best bet might be New England OES Rescue. The homes will be vetted and Shelby will be fitted with a family that can fulfill here needs. NEOESR.org
Thanks but as noted we already contacted NEOESR and due to Shelby's history she could not be accepted. We are desperate to find her a good home!
You said that she is AKC registered. Have you contacted the breeder from where you first got Shelby? Most breeders would want to know if one of their dogs is being rehomed and many breeders put it into their contracts. Also, your breeder might be a good resource for finding Shelby the best home. Good luck, I hope that it all works out for.
wishing you luck in finding Shelby the right home. Contacting the breeder sounds like a great idea.
Hi Paul, Have you found a home for Shelby yet?
Hi,would love Shelby..she would be our3rd for me and my husband 35 yrs...not sure how the boards work...but would love 2 her back from you.
I assume that Paul has already finalized a new home for Shelby; This post is well over a year old.

I hadn't seen it... His original post was just the day before we lost our own sheepie Mulligan.
