Bob goes to daycare

Well, I dropped Bob off at doggy daycare this morning. He had to be there at 7:30 a.m. - yikes!! I'm not really a morning person and trying to get 3 kids ready on top of that was fun. So, now I'm sad without my doggy around wreaking havoc. We're just going to send him once a week to try to socialize him a little better. He didn't even say goodbye, he was so excited to be somewhere new he just bolted off with the girl and never looked back :( . I can't wait to hear how his day goes. They actually have doggy naptime from 12:30-2, and the dogs actually sleep then. What a trip!! My 2 year old was very confused as to why we would just leave Bob somewhere. Hopefully, she'll get it when we pick him up tonight. Well, just wanted to vent about missing my doggy today.

Kayli LOVED doggy daycare when she was a puppy!

I loved it too, that was the only night of the week when she was so tired she could barely move.

Hmmm. . . . I wonder how Bentley would do at doggy daycare . . . .
I think it's a great idea! He'll have fun and be exhausted when he comes home! I see that as win/win!! :D
What doggy day care did you take Bob to?
Poor Mom :( Doesn't it kind of hurt your feelings when they are so happy to go off on a new adventure without looking back
Henry LOVES doggy daycare, he goes roaring in without a backward glance. But he loves coming home too. He gets great socialization time and comes home exhausted, which is nice for me on days when I come home exhausted.

When I first rescued him he weighed 70 pounds. He shot up to 95 in 6 months with my feeding routine. Then I put him in daycare and he slimmed down to 85, his perfect weight and has stayed there for 4 years. It really helps regulate his weight since he doesn't spend the whole day sleeping.
I just send Bunkie the Grandparents, that's doggie daycare. When my Mom and Dad come over she tries to go home with them every time. I think she's rather hang with grnadpa sometimes more than me.

HE'll be happy to see you when you get there. The butt will just be a movin'
Wow! What a tired puppy I picked up today. I'm not sure he peed or pooped all day because before we even reached the car in the parking lot he'd done large amounts of both!! Maybe a little shy in front of his new friends?? He sat still in the car on the way home (which is AMAZING) and I actually had to carry him from the car to the house!! I think it's safe to say he had a good time. The puppy daycare is called "Paw Play". They seem great and do grooming there too! Of course, it doesn't hurt that they tell me how cute Bob is and that they love him when I go in there!!

Sam's been to a local day care / boarding place. The first time she was there she herded all the other dogs into groups. The owner/trainer was laughing so hard as she was telling me this! Good sheepie!
It sounds like a great thing. Max is going to try out doggie daycare next week, they have an evaluation before they can join. He'll be there for about 4 hours, and if all goes well I'll sign him up for a once a week playtime. I take it Bob stayed for a complete day? Do you think 4-5 hours would be enough time to start? Anything that will tire my puppy out is a great thing!!

Sharon
The mention of an evaluation reminded me that a few years back Kayli got expelled from a new daycare. Apparently she does not play well with others anymore.
Hey that's great about Bob going to Daycare! He'll always come home a tired pup and the good thing is once a week, even if you have to get up early you'll have an entire free day! Evenings too I imagine as he probably just sleeps when he arrives home.

Glad to hear it was so successful!

Sharon - I think 4 - 5 hours would be fine. I actually hadn't planned to leave him all day his first day, but they recommended it. I guess if he was over 6 months, he would have had to go for an evaluation. I'm not sure I'll leave him there that long every week, but we'll see. I think his feet were sore last night too because he couldn't get up the stairs last night to go to bed!!
Gucci George LOVES going to Dog Camp! And the lady that runs it is our obedience teacher...win, win!

I also would like to say for the record, that would be my DREAM JOB! Especially if it was only Sheepies! SO FUN!

So glad Bob enjoyed himself!
