Zeke passed his herding instinct test!!!!

Sheepie Shindig 2015 just concluded yesterday (I'm sure that pics will be forthcoming).

Like last time, there was the herding instinct test available to those who wanted to try their dog in the pen with the sheep.

I decided to give Zeke a shot.
He's never been in a pen before; never even seen a sheep before, so I was a bit nervous. Plus I've never done anything like this, either.

I got him in there and the trainer had me walk Zeke around the outside of the pen with him against the wall and me to the inside.

Then the trainer told me to drop the lead and for ME to go chase the sheep <shrug>. So I did that.
Zeke would stay right next to me unless I told him "go get 'em, Zeke!", when he would chase them down.

I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like but I thought he did great. The trainer said "great dog" on the report.

So I'm happy that he passed considering his age and lack of experience.

Zeke was happy, too. When we were done & ready to leave the pen, he looked up at me and gave me his paw. :aww:

Here's the links to his test results and his certificate.
Let me know if these work or not.

Not sure what the results mean, so if any experts out there can clue me in, I'd appreciate it.

Maybe instead of putting a house on your plot of land you should buy a few sheep and a barn for Zeke!!
Good boy, Zeke!

You'll definitely need some sheep now, Mark!

:sidestep:
Yeah, the architectural association would LOVE that.

But I think I would like to get him some training.
Just don't know if there is any herding locally.

If I decide to do this with him, should he go in for a comprehensive check-up to make sure he's healthy enough? Especially his heart, lungs, joints, tendons, and ligaments?
He IS 8.5 years old.

PS
Could everyone see the documents at the links I provided?
documents came up fine. His mature age probably had a lot to do with his great job. His need to be wild is in his past, he uses his brain and respects his handler.
Can anyone explain what the report means?

I have no idea what any of it means.
Congrats and it's nice to see that Zeke had a good time too.
Sounds like you both had a great time. :wag: Isn't that what matters most? :D But the certificate will look good on the wall. :clappurple:
