kdog vs. bulldog

DH was weed whacking along the fence when the neighbor's bulldog squeezed her head under the wire fence and grabbed the whacker from DH's hands and tried to drag it back through. Kdog heard something and wanted outside. I didn't know and let her out to defend her Dad. By then DH was walking back to get me. I went and got in a tug of war with the da** dog but when I got it back, she came barreling through to our yard. I held the whacker out of her reach and ordered her in less than quiet voice to get back. But that doesn't work with a bulldog. Kdog came to my rescue from across the yard. I grabbed DH's cane and started wailing on the bulldog but Kdog was holding her own. When the bully backed up I nailed it between the eyes, got it turned toward the fence and then using best golf swing "drove" it under the fence. We then dragged a large landscape timber across the depression to stop future forays. That is not a good fence but we'd have to pay full price to replace it, about 125 feet worth, though it is a property fence and would be nice if A**Head would pay half....never happen.

I mention this because it was just feet from where Jack was found with his leg torn open a couple of years ago. Same dogs, boxers and bulldog. Kdog doesn't go near the fence on her own, she senses trouble there and avoids it unless Mom needs rescuing.

Talk to the neighbor? He'd just laugh in our face.

Glad you and hubby and Kdog are all OK...wish you would of had some mace for that bulldog....maybe you could get some really hot peppers sauce and pour on the board and that would keep the other dog on their side. Taser? anyone?? I would of used one if I had been in your situation. and don't you just love neighbors like that?? notice the sarcasm....
A bulldog or a pit bull?

I didn't think bulldogs were aggressive. I mean, they're kinda small and they have that messed up snout.
I always thought they were lazy dogs.
The title was K-dog vs. bulldog NOT cane in the face! All this is going on and your neighbor heard nothing????? Wondering what exactly the dog was planning to do with the weed whacker? I think I'd be tapping some nails into that log before I scooted it up to the fence. Only on the neighbors side of course. I have nice neighbors on one side and neighbors like yours on the other. When my babes go out in the back Robert and I have to go with them and we have to take a police flashlight with us in case the "poopy" neighbors dogs are out too. They come into our yard even though they are required to have invisible fencing....We are constantly hearing dog fights between their dogs and the dogs on the other side. That woman can't stand me and yeah well she isn't my favorite either. If she can't even train her dogs to stay in their yard, I'm guessing she doesn't bother to take them to the vet either and I'm loving their poop in my yard and their constant barking which is also a no-no where I live. I've smacked her doodle before and her little ankle size dog has nipped at Aensley ( in my yard ) so I have no problem putting that 20 lb. flashlight upside ones head if it shows some charge and teeth at one of my dogs! I've had this discussion before - seems like if your going to get a pet you should take care of it totally and completely. Including letting it out and watching it. Yep, it is a responsibility, commitment. Sorry for the tangent but glad your neighbors dog dealt with a little training from you for a quick second! Maybe not ideal but necessary at the moment. Certainly better than getting a weed whacker up it's nose.
Thank God none of you were injured. Brought tears to my eyes when you brought up Jack n his past injury, I remember it so well. Good KDog taking her stand.
I would have called the police and reported a dangerous aggressive dog. A report would have been filed and the owners informed. Records would have been kept and you should also received a copy. The dog could have bitten either of you or kdog. So glad you are all ok :phew: No way in hell would I put up with that behavior from the owner or their dogs. The log is a temporary fix, maybe, but what's to prevent the dog from finding another area of the fence to charge through? :crossed: Be careful.
That is bad, sorry that you have to live next to irresponsible people. They really should be reported in case there are any further incidents but I know I would not want to really stir up a fuss because you have to live next to them and if they are not pleasant about their dogs they probably would not be to you either.
Good ideas, pepper spray. Too bad I can't spray it through the fence, but that would be my aggression. Guess we find more lumber to drag up against the fence and yes, secure it to the wire.

Bully is not laid back! She goes ballistic when we are visible......even if it is 200 feet away. She did chase a mare around the paddock.........constantly....barking and snapping. Vixen is too mellow to haul off and kick the dog. Eventually the neighbors found a way to exclude the dog from the paddock.

Some years ago this extended family - multi houses - had a dog go after sheep. The sheep's owner shot the dog and was sued by the family. Judge threw it out of court, so over all, not responsible family/famililes. But as we were told when we moved here 35 years ago, "They were here first."
why dont you get some really hot peppers and soak in water for a while, days?? then spray/drench the water solution on the actual board that would face the bulldogs side...bet the smell would keep that meanie away. probably would spray around the fence line as well, tell them you are spraying for pests...
This is New Mexico, they'd probably get off on the spice! I'd have to keep it away from Kdog, she' lick the stuff. It's actually a good idea, maybe they'd stick their muzzles in and I could give them a squirt directly!

They say dogs have fewer taste buds than humans which would explain the swallowing without savoring........then how come they can be so darn picky!
I would be sitting beside the space where the dog came in, waiting with something horrible to spray on it, or one of those cans of pressurized air. Nothing that would hurt the dog, just something so that he would remember why sticking your nose into your neighbours back yard is a bad idea. Park a chair near the gap in the fence and aim for the gap. Every time you see a nose, you spray. Or better yet, spray the humans.

I tend to agree with Kim, except for worrying about your safety in the event that doesn't deter such a super aggressive dog. You'd have to have a weapon with you as well. :(

I'm so sorry you have such crappy neighbors, and am so grateful none of you were injured.
