Warning! Cold water and vomiting

For our newbies and oldies who forget, drinking really cold water can cause the dog to regurgitate almost immediately. Kdog has started that after her morning constitutional she'll stop at the outdoor water bowl which is just above freezing temp. Since she just ate breakfast (she "holds" herself to eat first then pee and poop........food hog) the meal ends up on the floor just as she enters the front door :twitch: DH hasn't the heart to keep her from the water bowl, also the dog is faster than he is. So he gets the clean up duty. I was thinking of putting a nicer rug by the front door.......not now.

Thank you for the heads up on that. I would have never thought of it. I don't think I have any worry since the water in Florida never really seems to get cold, but I will put it in my memory if I ever take the dogs to Michigan in the winter. (highly doubtful lol)
eating ice cubes can do the same thing
I can vouch for ice cubes making them throw up.

A couple of years ago Dudley stole a $100.00 bill off my dining room table. When I discovered it missing and could not find it anywhere I was pretty sure he had eaten it. Thought for a few moments and decided to give him a bunch of ice cubes in an effort to make him throw up. Sure enough, about five minutes later he threw up and my $100.00 bill, now in two pieces and very soggy, came up. I let the bill dry out, taped it back together and brought it to the bank and asked for another one.

I was very happy to retrieve my $100.00 on that end, rather than the other end!

Quick thinking!!
Church secretary's dog had a more expensive dinner, $600. The people waited patiently for the deposits, washed and taped back together as much as they could. Since it was more damaged than your experience, the bills had to be submitted to the government who could verify they were indeed bills and monetary amount. They only got $400 back as the rest was unverifiable. Probably if they had used ice cubes or hydrogen peroxide, the damage would have been less and the recovered amount higher than letting it go through the system
O.k. now are you talking a ton of ice cubes because ALL of my dogs will race and I mean race to the refrigerator when anyone hits the button to get ice from the door and wait for theirs to hit the floor. Even people who visit know they have to get their ice first and then hit the button again to let some extra drop for the dogs because it is an awful pitiful sight to see all those eyeballs staring at you! Sonny and Steel will eat theirs from the floor but Princess Skye demands hers from a hand as she refuses to eat off a floor! They only get 2 or 3 a piece because my floor is wood and I can't have melted ice just sitting there so it isn't much but none of them have ever shown signs of distress or discomfort only glee! Ice is bad to eat for teeth purposes - Steel started the whole thing and the others followed and now it is a matter of no one can say no due to the eyeballs. Imagine as soon as they hear the motor to the ice maker wham they all hit the floor running and line up in a row big fat glittery blue eyeballs everywhere!
I think dogs develop a tolerance to the ice cubes. For you it is also competition.......someone is getting something the others might want. Fortunately they haven't figured out how to trigger the dispenser to give themselves treats.
