Still part of heat cycle???

I am clueless after not having a female that was fixed in years. So I must ask===Tinsley was/still is? in heat and got very informative answers from Susan, Thank you, :D Tinsley is eating, playing and acting fine. But when I rub her tummy at night before we go to sleep, I notice her nipples and the area around them still seem to be swollen. The area around the nipples is maybe a little larger than a half dollar. Remember those? All of them, no redness, she doesn't flinch if i press lightly checking them out.Not seeing any discharge from her..My questions, is this still part of the cycle, normal, how long should this part last?? My concern is if not normal taking her to vet to see what the issue could be. I have heard of false pregnancies, but didn't know if this might be something like that? I have tried to research this on the internet, but none of the articles addressed how long the nipple area might be swollen. I didn't have this issue with Starbuck and Bear Bear because they were both fixed before their first cycle. That was 15 years ago and on the advice from my vet. So on Tinsley waiting it out like you all advised me, so this is all so new. Thank you all for your help.

Remind me, is she spay or not? If recently spayed then maybe some hormone still floating about? If it's been awhile, might want to have a vet take a look, infection? allergies? If she is intact, not spayed, and recently went thru a heat cycle...and was not bred  then probably hormones again. If it didn't cost $100 or more just to go to the vet, I'd say run her by.
No she is not spayed yet. Was waiting for her to be at least a year old. This was her first cycle. Started End of Dec? Saw discharge first of Jan. Not seeing any more discharge. Just wondering if this is still part of the end of her cycle? The hormones haven't quite settled down?? Will have her spayed this spring. Not breeding her.
And thanks so much for your help.
It takes a good 2 months for hormones to settle. IF she starts acting like she is pregnant, nesting and such, then more likely a false pregnancy. Thought to be a throw back to the pack where an unbred female could actually nurse and other's pups if necessary.
Thanks SheepieBoss. But not having a female that was bred and then pups,,,what does acting pregnant, nesting really mean?? I do not think I would know if she was nesting or not. If you could give me some pointers on what behaviors to look for, that would be awesome!!!
In nesting they become more .....anxious looking for stuff and an out of the way location to whelp a litter. A closet might be invaded, behind the couch or some strange location. Like a pregnant mother, they become a bit...insistent. If the swelling doesn't go down in a month, would be time to have it looked at.
Thanks so much for your help :D
Summer hasnt been speyed, and after her season, in which she actually bleeds for the whole of the cycle, not as much all way through just still spots, then after she has finished for the next month she still looks swollen but it doesnt bother her at all. Tilly the yorkie on the other hand just has a season bleeds for a few days and then is perfectly well...guess we are all different. I have always meant to have mine speyed but never afforded it!
