If this dog is , what 5 years old, it's something he just picked up on. Here's what he's thinking: 'If I act thirsty, and I can't just be let out in the yard that's not there anymore, I get to go on walks and eat snow...' Congrats, he's learned how to train you. He's a smart boy. Don't let him out EVERY TIME he says he needs to go. He's only NEEDING to go to get on a lease to go for a walk. So think about this; You live in WI, not Siberia. What's he gonna do in May, when all the snow is gone? He'll drink from any bowl you put out for him. Vance |

Buster likes snow, in out, in out. Sometimes we ignore his groaning to go outside and he gives up and drinks from his bucket! |
My OES Cody is the same. We live in Ottawa, Canada so we have snow on the ground for a solid 5 months of the year. During that time Cody get's about 90% of his liquid intake from snow. I change his water everyday and most of the time he hasn't even drank any. When spring comes along, he switched back to his water in the house- no biggie. Unless it is time for a scheduled walk, don't let him out If your worried that he isn't drinking enough, you can always pour a couple of cups of water into his kibble and let it soak up (assuming you feed your dog dry food). I often do this for Cody if he hasn't drank a lot in a while or even as treat ![]() Jess and Cody |

There are a few of us here, it would be fun to get together. I know that my three girls are always up for a playdate! |
