What are you doing on Thanksgiving?

We celebrated major family time mid November this year. Our Italian family gathers before Thanksgiving for the annual homemade sausage making, 150 lbs this year 8O
Families' from California, Illinois, Kentucky traveled for the event. Also, we celebrated two birthdays and our grandson's baptism. It was an action packed time.

So, Rocky, Charm and I are having a leisurely day tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a low key morning, watching the Macy's parade, and the dog show. A nice afternoon hike with Charm, she loves running through the woods. Tomorrow evening, we will be all over college football and possibly a movie rental.

We are having traditional sides with deep fried turkey(my first in five years :excited: ), and "fruits of the forest" pie, Rocky's favorite.

Besides, the obvious thanks to God for my life's blessings of health, happiness and family, I am especially grateful for the people who impacted my life this year and guided us toward Charm sports. It may very well become the retirement interest we are seeking :crossed:

What are you doing? Hosting, visiting, or being pj lizards like us?

Have a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving. Safe travels to all.

We are traveling to visit my husbands family (not my choice to travel for 4 hrs round trip) for 2 hrs then coming back for my sister's bday. Her bday falls on thanksgiving every 11, then 5 yrs, 11yrs etc. She is making dinner and then we are partying!
Ah, that's the sequence in b-days! Have a SIL with same issue.
As usual, it is just us. We were always required to travel elsewhere when first married which grew old quickly. Final attempt had road closed due to snow storm. We weren't stuck but were turned back. We figured "no more."
Each year our T-giving meal gets smaller, less items. We aren't quite to dressing, cranberries, and wine but getting close! Next day instead of shopping, we drive south about a hour to friend's open house where she sells her year's harvest of honey, homemade candles, soap, lotions and talented friends' handmade clothing, etc. House is made like a beehive, individual rooms clustered together, each with its own "cap" roof, sitting out alone surrounded by native vegetation.
Susan, your day after sounds lovely. Have fun.

I am going to my sister's (well, actually my brother-in-law's sister for the meal). My nephew and his wife and daughter, and my niece will be home. I haven't seen my niece in over 2 years, and my nephew and his family in over a year. I'm really excited!

Thanksgiving was always my favorite holiday, but after I got divorced it became the holiday I dreaded. I won't bore you with horrible stories of my brother but last year (after his death) I broke the "bad Thanksgiving" curse courtesy of Debcram, so now it's working its way back up.

My sister is about an hour and a half away and I'm looking forward to the drive. I'm kind of a wreck today because my new stove and fridge are being delivered this afternoon and I'm worried that the installation will go wrong!

P.S. This year I am so thankful that I can spend the day with my family. I'm thankful for the bounty of blessings in my life, including my job and my home. I have so much.
Kitchen project coming along!! :clappurple: We don't get "intermediate" photos? Hope you are taking them as will be fun go to back and say, "Yes, I survived that."
Happy traveling and family, have a good family Thanksgiving.
Our family rotates location between Chicago area members plus one Madison house. Melissa and I hosted two years ago. This year we are at a cousins in Chicago. We do a mostly potluck with everyone bringing their specialty. We are bringing an oatmeal pecan pie and stuffing(dressing).

The pups are staying home, but they get a long walk before we go and we took a beef trachea out of the freezer for a fun dinner when we get home
I believe a beef trachea trumps kibble n turkey scraps any day

Safe travels, girls :D
I think we need the recipe for oatmeal pecan pie.....

For some reason, the below sequence came into my mind when I read this part.

I actually have two recipes. One from Cooking Light and one from Midwest Living. Both are on the first page of google if you look it up. I'm not sure which is better. I usually choose which one based on what ingredients I already have.

Bonus...since it has oatmeal in it you can have leftovers for breakfast :cow:
