Steel's Biopsy results

I want off this roller coaster please! The surgeon called and said he has one of 2 things I wrote down the one she said she is leaning toward...Microvascular Dysplasia. He will go to her for his check up and she will do a protein C test to send to Cornell to be sure and that will take 3-4 days to get the results from and then we will go from there. (MON. 24) No more seeing my vet for now. I looked it up and it makes reference to small dog breeds, says may or may not show symptoms, sometimes can be treated with diet alone and be all set. Has anyone heard of this? Sock in or out of the tummy doesn't change the result of a biopsy :( She didn't seem too worried - still going with how happy and healthy he looks and behaves.

Never heard of it! Tells us more when you get the info. Does it show up in Merck's vet manual?
O.k.now I'm freaking out, you know about everything!!!! I don't know if you could tell from my post yesterday but I was taking the lighter side of everything and I got on here before I did anymore investigating this morning because more often than not I get more real information from here than anywhere. It's nice to know the technical side of things but the fine print doesn't include what's going to really happen at home! The waiting until Monday and then waiting another few days is killing me. I'm trying really hard to stick to he really does act perfectly fine other than he is kind of being a jerk right now because this cone is on his head! I have kept the breeder up to date this far but I haven't told her about the biopsy yet and I know this sounds rather ridiculous but I feel bad emailing to tell her - I think I should wait until I know something definitive. I just love her to death and my sweet Steel. I think I will feel better about this all when I have answers. I hope I am lucky enough to get some.
Read up on it and looks like it will be Cornell to come up with more answers. Yes, wait until you get more definitive news before contacting the breeder as it is an inherited condition. Whether his propensity for socks bruised something internally or this truly is a genetic condition of the liver, time will tell. I'm sure it does you no good knowing it is extremely rare for larger breeds.
Here are the results from the Protein C test from Cornell...He is within normal range. What that means to her is that he does not have a extra vascular porta systemic shunt. This means he "just" has some disease at the cellular level which based on how he is doing at this age she thinks is very minor. She thinks it is unlikely to impact him over the course of his life. She thinks it is a good thing to know in case I run into a problem but he hasn't shown any clinical signs so she has ruled it down to microvascular dysplasia not associated with any major changes in his liver. She said we are in a good place and no changes need to made with diet, no meds. :yay:
That is awesome news!!!

That dark cloud has lifted :yay:
Great news!!
Keeping socks out of his gut will also help his liver!
