gentle lead collar?

Jessy is difficult to walk. I walk with treats in my pocket and am continually saying "easy......easy.... Jessy eassy....." Jessy will slow down for the treat , get the treat, themn goes back to his fast walking/galloping.
[he's 51/2 months old,weighs 65 lbs]
A lady with a Lab in my neighborhood uses a "gentle lead collar" Does anybody here use one or know if it is ok for a sheepie pup?

When Fred was that age, I liked the gentle leader that fits over the face as opposed to the harness type because the harness matted her chest and under leg area so bad... I only used it for a few months until she was better trained.. we do lots of classes, rally, obedience etc.. She still likes to keep the leash tight sometimes when excited but never lunges or pulls hard any more.
Like Leslie mentioned, consistency and obedience training is the best therapy for long term benefits.

Charm will forget her manners when overly stimulated, and that was causing problems with her therapy visits. I found this harness and use it with success when we are in public.

How old was Charm when you used the Wonder halter and how much did she weigh? My vet said halters in general are worse than collars, as the pup can pull you all over the place. I am certainly willing to try anything
Thank you,

Charm was 2.6 yrs when we started therapy visiting so right after that.

I don't know if it would work on a puppy but you might ask the owners. They are just regular mom and pop owners.

The premise behind it is that the lead is attached to the front and when the dog pulls, it turns them sideways. Apparently, they intensely dislike that. Worked like a charm  for us.
When we adopted Blue, at the age of 1 1/2 yrs. the folks gave us a "Premier Easy Walk Harness" that he was trained with. He was always well minded with that harness on -- but then he was a pretty easy going fella anyway. The Premier harness uses a Martingale loop on the chest strap, it actually looks a lot like the Wonder Walker harness that was mentioned earlier. I've used a Gentle Leader on several foster dogs we have had, some dogs just hate the loop over their nose and won't do anything, Other dogs are fine with it and work great with the leader. I guess it just depends on the dog.
Hi there,

I've used an Easy Lead on Max since he was a pup, because I've always had issues with him pulling me on walks. It fits right over his nose and clips behind his neck. To be honest though, I noticed that the pulling stopped right after he was neutered.

It's nice going on walks and not getting my shoulder pulled out of joint anymore though thanks to the Easy Lead; I can tell a difference if I forget it and he sees another dog :twitch:
