LuLu in Mississippi needs HELP

LuLu's owner is ill and can no longer care for her.

She is a 9 year old sweet OES female that especially loves women and is good with cats.

She is currently at a vet's office in Columbia, Mississippi -- about 2 hours from Memphis. She has mange (almost cured) and is incontinent but both are under control with daily medication.

No picture is available yet.

Please contact me if you are interested in more information on LuLu or better yet -- fostering or adopting LuLu.

hi Marie,
I had called about Lulu twice when we first heard about her from Carol. No one called me back??? I am glad you are helping her. thank you!, sue
:D
Sue,

I'm trying to help LuLu but feel pretty helpless here in Florida with 4 dogs (my own three and a foster OES) and one more coming at the end of the month plus 2 mostlies in shelters within an hour of my home and my inlaws living with me... offers to do the necessary home checks to complete the adoptions in FL are few and far between.

Any volunteers in Mississippi to "spring" LuLu from the vets office???

Any volunteers in other parts of the country to foster her or adopt her?

Over 40 people read my orginal post but no offers yet to help her....

I am open for suggestions from all...

Hi Marie,

I'm one of those that looked and I'm so sorry that I'm unable to assist you. Should you ever get interest regarding one of your pups..I know it's a long shot as I live in British Columbia (Vancouver) I can do a home screen for you. Keeping my fingers crossed for this girl.

Marianne,

If I remember right you helped out a rescue that came all the way from Hong Kong??? If so -- WOW!!!

Your offer to do home checks in your area is very valuable! Thank you, unfortunately I don't have a list on anyone wanting a dog in your area. Is there a rescue group in your area listed on the rescue contact section of oes.org?

If so, let them know you are will to help by doing home checks. Also another "easy" rescue activity that is very helpful is to offer to have people interested in OES that have never owned one to come to your home to actually see how big they are when full grown. They may lose interest and not buy that puppy store sheepie and may decide to take a wonderful calm senior or adult dog from a rescue group.

I have helped out several different rescue groups by doing home checks -they are even more valuable when placing a dog now than they have been. I typically do vet checks as well as home checks to best place the dog. Sometimes when I now do vet checks (we call the person's vet that they list on the application) to see if they are a good pet owner -- sometimes we are told they are great pet owners and others we are told they aren't really using the vet or that they are an animal collector.I now sometimes get the answer that they can give me no information on the person -- guess it's due to the new privacy acts.
I can post her on out website. Are there any photos? Sue
Thanks Sue,

I just wrote to ask if a photo has been taken yet. I'll forward one as soon as I can get one.

Hi Sheepiemom,

Yes that's me and Panda is the big sweetheart in my avatar!

The OES rescue up here is practically non existant as we rarely get them in our shelters here. I have spoken to Judi OES rescue, many times however but she lives in a different municpality. Recently there had been two in short duration that were in the pound and I made calls and was happy to find out there were 8 people on their waiting list and they were quickly adopted (except for poor Riviera) whom I mentioned in another post. Judi lives in another municipality as does Ray whom operates the other one in my province. (He's on the Island) Sorta like your different counties, I imagine. Anyhow it's just me at the moment in my city as far as I'm aware, and I do occasionally make calls to other rescues that operate in my area but for all pets and not just OES. I try to help out when I can and so at the moment don't belong to any one group.

I currently have 3 dogs, 4 cats, 1 rabbit and guinea pig in my home. I am hoping this old girl finds a home as does Riviera.

Marianne and the boys
:) Hi ! I live in the Okanagan in BC and would be happy to do a house check should the need arise in my area. I'm about 6 hours east of Marianne. Is there a standard check list anywhere that could be used? Thanks,Lynda
Ron, maybe this post can be moved somewhere else on this website so people can find it with ease...

There is a check list for someone doing a home check on the www.neoesr.org website. It is listed under 12 documents. It is very helpful to those that have never done a home check before.

Thank you to all that are wanting to help out with OES rescue!

Which post? The link to NEOESR? About LuLu? I'm not sure what you mean.
Ron,

As far as I know LuLu is still at the vets office in Mississippi -- Sue Ferchak has offered the help of the OES Rescue Network in the SE.

In this thread about LuLu -- posts have been made from Canada from people offering to do home checks in their area -- not specifically for Lulu. They were wondering how a home check is done.

At one point doing a home check also made me nervous so I was able to get this form from another rescue group. Annie had Ted post it on the NEOESR website and it is there for all to use... However most people don't know it is there or that it even exists.

It doesn't really help LuLu at this time but it could be helpful elsewhere but I am unsure to to "spread the news". Also, how do we spread the news to the Western Canada rescue people that they have 2 new volunteers willing to help do home checks?

I'd appreciate your help and LuLu still needs help -- we are very low on volunteers in Mississippi.
