Weight Gain

Hi! My name is Ellen and I am relatively new to OES FORUM. I have a 4 and 1/2 mos old male named Jessy.
When he first came to me, Jessy had coccidia and was treated with Albon x 10 days.
I have Jessy weighed every 2 weeks. In the last 2 weeks, he has only gained 2 lbs. He weighs 44 lbs. How much should a 41/2 month old pup weigh?. He seemed to be putting on more weight early on. I brought in a stool sample yesterday. [just checking]i I thought male OES gain approx. 10 lbs a month
Thank you for your reply

My pup Nonc weighed 44 lbs a couple of days after he was 5 months old. My vet says he's right on track.
Thank you for your reply. Jessy was 4 months old 9/22. He was 44 lbs yesterday, Will he be big? Parents big?
Ellen
Growth starts and stops as time is spent growing internals vs. externals. Final weight won't be until a year or more. No way to know his size as, like people, they vary in growth patterns. Enjoy the small Jessy because before you know it the pup is gone. Good idea to keep up with the stool samples.
Ellen, I think his parents were of normal size. My vet is estimating a final weight near 85 lbs. But Susan is correct; the puppy phase moves quickly and Nonc dwarfs many puppies his age already.
Steel just hit the 4mo. mark last week and he was 40-41 lbs. Sorry, I think it was 41, I rounded it off in my head. His parents are both on the smaller side. His dad is 65-70lbs.
