Helping folks find an OES rescue and or breeder

Hey Everyone,

I know I am not around much at all...Being the founder of a VERY busy but small rescue takes time...Some of you know we are Black Dogs & Company Rescue inc. The and company is the OES breed. We placed 13 OES last year. We have nor recieved one call about an OES since nov of 2013....My question is and I am seeking advice...We have applications for great homes...Just no OES ( yes we have lots of black dogs!!) I have recommended that if they are willing to research a good breeder I can send them to the OESCA page where breeders are listed. Some are willing to pay for a well bred dog BUT the breeders will not work with them...Some want show homes etc. So what is one to do?? I believe this is the reason some people go to craigs list or to these awful sites that are puppy mills.....So I am just asking for opinions fron anyone that can offer good advice..Maybe those of you that do rescue and maybe those of you that breed on occasion....I don't even know if I wanted another OES if I could get one .....
Thanks

Cindy

Hi, Cindy. I've been looking for a few years for an OES puppy and it's hard knowing who to trust to get a pup that isn't going to have problems in the future. I have bred my own dogs over the years, silky terriers and I know what I'm doing, raising healthy pups with no gene problems and following the standards but when I'm looking around for a female to have a littler eventually to give pups to my Grandkids there are limited registrations something new to me. And looking at the quality of these dogs who some of are even being sold deaf but they don't want me to raise pups really bugs me! One lady is selling deaf pups which are mostly white and we know about the fatal white gene in different breeds and what can happen to these poor pups and those that buy them who have no clue about breeding but go ahead and extend these weaknesses.
So I'm learning and still looking for a pup and have to offer a farm with stock in Montana. I will find one but it is so sad to see all of the fine, wonderful breeds being bred when they shouldn't be making these breeds weaker and not stronger.
I have rescued two OES's over the years and others as well and they have been great dogs. I think rescuing is really important..
Thanks Cindy for letting me vent. Cheryl. Hodges
I have an Old English Sheepdog puppy (Barnaby) that we purchased from PAWS UP NORTH in August of this year. He is now turning fifteen weeks of age. HE is a beautiful and wonderful puppy with the usual puppy behavior of nipping, biting, and generally bad behavior for a puppy. The problem is our daughter just had a baby five weeks ago and the puppy is now going after the baby. Last week the baby broke out in a horrible rash all over his body and the doctor advised the baby is most definately allergic to the Old English dog. He was tested. We now have the problem of finding a home for him that will be loving and give him the wonderful life he deserves.

If anyone is interested you can contact us at our e-mail jayandcindyg@aol.com or phone (212) 222-8022. We love him so much but we have to make the choice of our baby grandson coming over or the puppy. This is our third Old English. We love the breed and lost out Oliver this past May at twelve from Cancer. We did call PAWS UP NORTH but they refused to speak or give us any guidance.

This dog needs a lot of exercise and love. HE IS JUST WONDERFUL!!! If interested, again, our info is above. WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR ANY PAYMENT FOR THE DOG. WE JUST WANT HIM TO HAVE A LOVING AND KIND FAMILY WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM.

Your pup's breeder should be willing to take him back if they are reputable. Any good breeder would not want to see their dogs go to another home without their knowledge.
