Please, can I have a BREAKDOWN..........NOW

My son's wedding is 2 weeks from today so things are getting tense. I'm trying to plan a rehersal dinner for 50 two states away and everything keeps costing just a little bit more..... My daughter (a bridesmaid) eloped to Utah a little over a month ago (remember THAT) and I'm having a DEVIL of a time getting her to take care of her "responsibilities". Her bridesmaid gown is 4 sizes too big, it was ordered 4 months ago, just arrived (to her in UTAH) and she has been dieting  . SHE has to find a seamstrees in Loa UTAH to take it in and as of 1/2 hour ago had not even started to make calls. She was SUPPOSED to have taken care of getting make up to cover the most GOD AWFUL tatoo on her back you ever saw weeks ago. I found out at the begining of the week that she hadn't done it. I called an internet company that specializes in that kind of make up and had sent by over night mail on MONDAY a sample pack so she could pick her shade. SHE HASN'T FOUND TIME TO GO TO THE POST OFFICE to pick up the sample pack so I can order the make up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh If this were HER wedding not my son's I'd simply let her wear a dress four sizes too big with a butt ugly tatoo hanging out but it's not HER wedding. PLUS I'm dealing with a scum sucking slim bucket of an EX who thinks he knows JUST EXACTLY how things should be done but OH BY THE WAY, isn't contributing a cent to the effort. Just found out that my daughters plane from Utah and my 84 yr old Fathers train from SC arrive at opposite ends of Washington within 1/2 hour of each other and I'm supposed to pick them both up (did I mention I've never driven in Washington). To top it all off I haven't found anywhere to leave Ty..... Tasker is going to the kennel but Ty has never been to the kennel and I'm just not ready to do that.........

Have I carried on enough??????????? ANYBODY GOT ANY CHEESE FOR MY WHINE????????????????????????

There I feel better :D

Oh Ginny......you poor thing!!! All I can say is that I appreciate what a good mom you are!! Us kids can be a pain.....can you send your daughter tatto coverup makeup??? 8O Just remember theyre her choices....doesnt make you want to throttle her any less.... can your ex pick her up at the airport? I can only imagine your stress...glad Im not there.... :D Bless your heart.......
Oh boy -- that's sounds like a heck of alot of stress! It is such a shame when you should be looking forward to this great moment in your son's life. I have alot of sympathy. But remember, your son (or his fiance) picked your daughter to be in the wedding. It is not your responsibility to manage that situation or her behavior. After all, she is a married woman! I think if she doesn't cooperate, you should tell her to call a cab when she arrives. Senority should trump irresponsibility. Dear old dad should not be left to fend for himself. Where is the rehearsal dinner goinig to be? Are you talking about DC or Washington state? If it is DC, there is plenty of public transportation that is really safe and convenient. . .

Deep breaths!
Poor Ginny! I can hear the frustration in your post. Having kids about the same age as yours, I can understand, sort of. Being the mom, you've always taken care of everything, so you feel like it has to continue through the wedding. I would probably feel the same.

That said, I agree with Valerie in that your daughter needs to be responsible for herself. Unfortunately, if she doesn't take responsibility, it's your son's wedding that will be affected. You're between a rock and a hard place, pal!

I also agree - put that ex to work! He can pick up his daughter, you can pick up your dad.

Other than that, how you holding up?? 8O :?

Chris
Wow...sorry you're going through all of this. :( My parents should be glad that we eloped! LOL
The cost of a wedding can escalate only as high as you allow it to. Set your limit and stick to it.

I assume the soon to be wedded couple asked your daughter to be in their wedding, and that they know how she is. Let them handle it. If they're not upset about it, relax mom.

I assume the bride to be, knew she had the tatoo when she picked out the dresses........, relax mom.

Its not yours either, neither are their responsibilities....relax mom .

You knew that when you split up, so..................relax mom.

How much trouble is your 84 year old Dad causing? Is there really any question as to "WHO" you should be concerned about?...relax mom

Can Ty wear the dress? Does he have a tatoo? OK, solution is, put him in the dress, send daughter to kennel with Tasker. Relax mom!

Please don't be offended, just a little humor to calm your nerves (I hope). Have a wonderful time at the wedding and don't worry about everything else. As long as they get married and live happily ever after, nothing else is important. Worry about keeping them together, not getting them together.
I have to admit you've received awesome advice so far! Can't add anything to say either...except if you say he's scum sucking - I agree with you! Get out that pillow ...imagine his face is on it and pound it...it'll make you feel better. Oops did I just say that outloud?

>>Thinking I've been watching too many episodes of the Starting Over House that's been airing on TV. :O)

Take a couple deep breaths..enjoy the day, concentrate on your son and picking up your dad.

Good luck and we'll miss you when you're gone. Wish I lived closer to you I would have offered to babysit/dog sit your boys.

Now THERE'S an IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

My biggest worry in all this is the puppies :( Tasker has been to the kennel alot, he goes to his groomer, not the ideal situation but she is a good person. Unfortunately she keeps too many dogs and they stay in crates in her basement. When we first started going there years ago she only kept a handful and they would have the run of the basement during the day. But now it's gotten out of hand. Tasker knows her and is comfortable so for a few days he'll be ok. I wouldn't leave Ty there however.

I received a phone call from a kennel near our new house (the old kennel is about an hour away) last night and spoke to an absolutely DELIGHTFUL women. They have indor outdoor runs in a barn next to the house. We drive by it on the way to work and it's very nice. She also told me that maltese were her husbands favorite breed of dog and she would let Ty stay in the house with them and EVEN..........let him sleep with them :D Im have an appointment on Tuesday to stop and meet her and "tour" the facility (hehehehe).

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately....) the sssb (refer to above post) of an ex doesn't blow into town until just in time for the rehersal dinner so leaving him to deal with the "tatooed now size four" daughter is not an option but I guess she can cool her heels in BWI til I get there!!!!

And did I mention that my adorable 84 year old slightly (but pleasantly) confused father sent me the business card of the funeral home where he preplanned his funeral JUST IN CASE the train crashes 8O

OOPs didn't mean to turn this into my own personal BLOG :? , but my son is the most normal of the bunch. I want his wedding to be perfect, he deserves it :D
Hey rant all you want...we're here for you!!

I hope it works out well for the new boarder for Ty. With his face..I'm sure it'll be instant love!

Marianne and the boys
Oh my Goodness!!!! I really feel for you! It is so disappointing that your daughter doesn't recognize that you are a "little" stressed out and help a little! My mom would leave me at the airport! LOL!

Everything always has a way of working out! I hope you get a chance to enjoy the day!

Colleen and Gucci George
Oh my goodness! What a great mom you are!!! I'm sure everything will work out in the end, things have a way of doing that!! It sounds like you've found a great place for Ty!! Try to enjoy the wedding, it'll be over before you know it! You've definately received some great (and amusing  ) advice!!

Karen
HEHEHEHEHE........... WELLLLLLLLLLLLLl I did a little stress relieving today!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to the Mall and I decided to make a stop at the Clinique counter at The Bon TON (some of you may remember my idea of make up is chapstick and oil of olay). Spent an hour and a half getting a make over and walked away with $186.00 worth of make up for the big day  (shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell Doug) It's his fault he had to get fitted for his tux and didn't want to go alone. :D

Now, if I can remember how to use all this stuff...... I'm looking at a pile of ll different products..............EEEEEEEK I know where lipstick goes but the rest?????? Doug thinks I look dazzzling :D :D :D :D
There you go!!!!!!! Nothing a little damage at the mall can't fix - hee-hee!!!!

Karen
Ah, mall shopping. Who needs Freud when there is suburban stress relief just minutes away?

Try to practice a little bit every day with your new makeup. 2 things to remember, less is more and blend, blend, blend.

If you get stuck and need some help the former beauty queen  is here and available. (I'm embarrassed to say that I don't even go to the beach without makeup on!)

Good luck, you'll do great!
Lip liner ? Eye Liner? The only thing I ever lined was my my drawers and a skirt I made once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought undercover was something a policeofficer did and make up was what you did after a fight 8O . I MAY BE IN TROUBLE!!!!
At least you haven't lost your sense of humor, Ginny!!
I'm just getting in and reading your post. Thank goodness you've found some stress relief and a great place for Ty to spend the weekend.

Deep breaths! And don't forget to EXHALE!!

hahahha --- WOMEn!!! I remember dieting for my wedding. :P

I'm very sorry for the other stresses you're having about getting/taking care of all the details :( I felt bad for my mom because I was a tad catty with her because I felt she wasn't doing Enough, but basically it was all my stress. I remember REALLY thinking I would lose it since I prepared every detail, took care of every chore for the wedding.

Is there a wedding coordinator for the day of? I'm not sure what I'd do w/o ours. MIL said she had a terrible time at both her daughter's weddings b/c she ended up having to work instead of enjoying the wedding. :(

I WISH I WISH I could take Ty :( Yeah, I would nEVER nEVER leave a maltese in a kennel with other barking dogs. I've seen WAY TOO MAny come back tramatized from the other barking dogs when I worked at a vet. clinic. Is there someone who can come into your home to check on Ty?

I'm sure you'll look lovely and everything will go beautifully. :) Breathe :)
oh, I too only read the first post when I replied! Good to hear you found what sounds like an AWESOME place to keep Ty. Sounds like lots of fun!! :D

I love when I have new makeup ;)
The bridesmaid gown is at the seamstress', should be ready by the end of the week. The correct shade of make up has been ordered. Child is taking a cab from airport to the hotel. Whew.

Chapter II: Just found out that of all the freaking hotels in Washington the SSSB (refer to original post) of an ex is staying at the same hotel as we are  But I guess it's ok because my BROTHER (and the rest of my family) will be there

And here's where it turns into a soap opera... (do I know you all well enough to tell you this  , guess so, most like all but the nearest and dearest have lost interest in this post by now)... My ex is not my son's biological father. My son was two when we got married and he was adopted. He has developed a relationship with his biological Father and GUESS WHO'S coming to the wedding 8O You guessed it, the biological father (who by the way I haven't seen since two days after my son was born).

So PICTURE IT FOLKS........ FRONT ROW, GROOMS SIDE......
MOTHER OF THE GROOM, SIGNIFICANT OTHER OF THE GROOM (absolutely necessary to keep MOG sane and from killing anyone), ADOPTIVE FATHER, BIOLOGICAL FATHER

Do ya think folks are gunna look at me and think WOW WHAT A WOMEN THREE MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My "foundation" garment arrived yesterday (I'm assuming the guys have definately steered clear of this post) and it doesn't work with the necline of my dress so its back to the Mall.

Perhaps when this wedding is over and this post is done I can make a made for TV movie out of it...... "Mother of the Groom"
Bless your heart Ginny :D It wil be an event all right!! Just keep saying to yourself...."Yeah, 3 men. Im bad.Im bad....Im hot!!!"

note: bad means cool.. :D
Darcy, That's pretty funny!! The note was a pretty good idea. Not too long ago one of my patients wrote on an evaluation "Ginny is Da Bomb", I had NO IDEA what that ment and thought it was something bad!!!! I had to go ask one of the office girls what "Da Bomb" ment!!!   Unfortunately all the CLinique makeup in the world isn't going to make ME look HOT, it'll be more like WHAT DID THEY SEE IN THAT OLD BROAD ! HAHAHAHAHAHA
OK, so maybe I don't know you well enough but I'm still with the story! It's better than anything on TV (the movie idea is GREAT). I cannot wait to hear the end!!! It's going to be awesome I'm so sure of it!

You didn't mention if guy #1 was in the same hotel as well? Now that would be movie material!

Colleen and Gucci George
See thats the WRONG attitude!!! What you feel on the inside is what you project! Feel sexy and hot....and everyone else will see it too! and truth be told, You cannot get three men like that if you dont have it in you!!!! You just go girl, and use the southern charm and your northern wit!!!
You didn't mention if guy #1 was in the same hotel as well? Now that would be movie material!

Colleen and Gucci George[/quote]

GOOD LORD!!!!!!!!!! THAT HAD NOT OCCURRED TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
Hmmmmmmmmmm maybe I'd better see about getting some Valium to take along...............oh to h@&* with it, I'll take a bottle of Southern Comfort.
HHHHaaaa that would be funny!! Thats a girl Ginny!!! You could be up for an emmy, if this were a made for tv movie....or maybe not made for tv... :D
This is too much! :D

Okay, Ginny, I've gotta know...are either the biological dad or the adoptive dad bringing a WI/GF/SO?
Or will it really be just you and "guys" on that row??
You got the picture!!!! JUST ME AND THE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently after me they are just spoiled for any other woman
Tasker's Mom wrote:

Ok, I'm guessing that is a typo.

Wouldn't the "Significant Other of the Groom" be the Bride?

Maybe it's the Significant Other of the Groom's Mother?
 And I thought you guys weren't reading this!!

Yes, I ment Significant Other of the GROOMS MOTHER

Can you blame me if I am a bit rattled!!!
Do you at least like the future Daughter in Law?
Tasker's Mom wrote:

Go Ginny!!
Yes indeed she is an absolutely wonderful person and my son is very luck to be marrying her. Of course my son is a very wonderful person and she is very lucky to be marrying him :D So I guess it's a match made in heaven!!
valerie wrote:

I agree. Send your daughter $2.50 and tell her to take the Metro. She can get anywhere on that from the airport in DC.
Ohhh my no! I don't think you can send the bride to be on the Metro! She's gotta have tons of luggage! I would guess.

You can't send dad on the metro.

Someone will have to fetch one, and someone else the other.

Perhaps you'll send cab fare and a large porter tip to the bride.

Or best yet -if you have an unlimited budget- send a limo for the bride.
Ginny - this would make great reality t.v.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Karen
You have NO IDEA! MY LIFE would make great reality TV. You'll notice I kept preeeeety quite during the "getting to know you post". It's comin' out here :D

Ron, the daughter is the BRIDESMAID not the bride (which is good since I'm mother of the groom heheheheh). She's the one who eloped to Utah a month or so ago, she travels light 8O She gets to take a CAB (I already sent her a check). Dad, on the other hand, will be met as he alights the Amtrak. Hopefully he'll remember what stop to get off at.

More good news. I visited the prospective kennel after work and found the lady slightly left of center but delightful. Tasker and Ty will BOTH be going there for the wedding. Tasker will stay in the kennel (behind her house) and Ty gets to sleep on her pillow :D They raise Borsoi (sp?) and Bassetts and apparently she is a judge and goes all over the country. SHe's even judged breed at Westminster (she said her feet made it on TV once). Ty climbed on her huysbands lap and settled right in!!
Ginny, make sure to get a picture of you in your beautiful dress and stunning makeup ( and hopefully not too uncomfortable foundation garment) with your HAREM of men! I'm sure the two exes caused enough grief in their day so you might as well get a good laugh at their expense now

I'm glad you're not driving to BWI, it's really far out of town. If the daughter can elope and get a tattoo on her own, she can figure out how to catch a cab!

Tasker and Ty sound well taken care of. So you can grab that bottle of Southern Comfort and have a good ol' time. We'll all have a drink in your honor on the Big Day!
Barney1 started a thread recently about dreaming about the forum.

Well, last night, I had a dream about Ginny's son's wedding!! 8)
And we were all there!! EVERYONE!
It was lovely meeting you all!!

Oh yes, the wedding was beautiful Ginny. But I can't tell you the part about what happens when you see your "exes". Don't wanna spoil the surprise!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :D :D :D :D
Oh MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Hope it was good!!!!!!!!!!

Well, in an attempt to "look my best" I bought a box of those teeth whitening strips (are there no lengths I won't stoop to). Last night I fell asleep with the strips that are only supposed to be left on for 1/2 an hour. This morning I RUSHED to the bathroom expecting to see that my teeth had turned purple or something but WHEW they were still intact!

I didn't go to this much trouble for my wedding.
Oh it was! :D

The teeth whitening strips work well. Thank goodness you didn't end up like Ross on that episode of Friends-- remember that one? He left his on too long and his teeth glowed in the dark!!  Be careful!
I can barely keep mine on for 10 minutes......I'd be amazed if they lasted all night. I also have/had the goop from the dentist with the two mouth pieces......it worked great until I lost the mouth pieces. So now I have these tubes and no way to apply. They were to stay on 2 hours but I left them in all night as they also prevented grinding. Yes, I could go get a Doctor's Night Guard.......yeah, I know.
Actually these stuck like glue, they are a generic brand and I really had to pry them off. Good thing I had forgotten about the Friends episode!!!  I guess tonight I'll do it BEFORE I go to bed!!!!
Does anybody else want to get on a plane to DC to attend this wedding? We could all be moral support for Ginny and be entertained to boot.

Of course, all the interesting stuff will happen at the reception. I haven't crashed a wedding reception in 20 some odd years. I might be too old for that kind of thing.
Come on down Ya'll, July 30th The Fairmont Hotel Washington DC
I'll be the one in the ice blue gown with the bottle of Southern Comfort dancing in the fountain with the trail of men following me and a bunch of women standing around saying I don't see what's so special         :o :o

Bring your sheepies, if you check out the Fairmont web site they say they are "pet Friendly" HEHEHEHEHE
Can't you just picture us all converging on the Fairmont with our sheepies? The looks on the faces of the housekeeping staff would be priceless 8O 8O 8O
Your story telling is priceless!!! Keep us posted.
Ok get the tissues out...........

My Mom died about 2 years ago, unfortunately just before my son got engaged, but she knew his fiance' and adored her. Just before she died (she didn't know she was going to die) she gave me a silver chafing dish that had been in her family for generations and told me to save it for my son for a wedding gift (maybe she had some kind of premonition). Over the last few months I've had lots of crys over wishing my Mom were here to share this event and last night finally had the nerve to get the dish out to polish and wrap. I polished it "up good" and wrote a note telling them it was from his grandmother and had myself a good old fashioned bawl fest

By the way, did I mention I'll be the barefooted redhead in the ice blue dress with the bottle of southern comfort dancing in the fountain at the Fairmont??????
Wow, that's a gift they should treasure forever.

BTW, will you let any of the guests dance with your men
There are two of em home and not brin em back!!!!
Ginny, that sounds like the best wedding gift ever!!! Im sure they will treasure it forever!!! When my great aunt Ginny :D passed away I inherited her tiny wedding band with 4 really small diamond chips in it. I wear it as my own wedding band and I think of her every day. It wasnt what I inherited, but the thoughts and memories of her every time I look at it..Im sure it will be the same with them...

by the way, please make sure someone is taking pictures of you in that fountain...I know ALL of us want to see that...Are you going to wear your hair up or down? I can only picture you with a very wet hemline, the bottle of booze in one hand, your other arm outstretched to hold your balance and your updo coming undone, and a huge smile on your face...just precious!!!! I definately want pictures :D
Tasker's Mom wrote:

Good Lord I'm losing my mind.... This was in response to bestdogsx4 wanting to know if I was going to let anyone dance with my "men" and should have said that there are "two of em they could take home and not bring back"

Suspect I'll become less coherant as the week wears on. Good thing for you all that after Monday I'll have limited if any computer acess
Hi,

This post has me in stitches...okay stop making me laugh so hard!

Gawd I'm jealous ...dancing in barefeet, surrounded by men. Kinda like being Mae West! "It's better to be looked at than overlooked" Ha! and you thought I'd say her other famous line but I'm keeping this family rated.I'll pass on the Southern Comfort but will exhange it for Monte Kristo's. Even with the whipped cream and sugared edges..oh yummy they're to die for.

Wish I could be there with you but as Tammy dreamt about it...hey I was there too! Did I behave myself Tammy?

Taskers mom I've enjoyed reading your post and seeing your sense of humor shine through. If you can laugh at yourself you can survive anything.

Best wishes to you and your family

Marianne and the boys
Oh yes, Marianne, you were there, too. As to whether or not you behaved....well....I guess that depends on your definition!

As you can tell, Ginny, we wish you all the best and will be with you in spirit if not in person! :D
I want to know why barefooted? Have you not found your shoes yet? Or just like me and prefer not to have tinted feet after playing in the fountain? Tinted shoes and water = tinted feet (for days). I hope all goes well and we are thinking about ya.
No tinted shoes........I actually found a realtively comfortable pair of flat shoes. Barefoot cause I'm just a barefoot kinda person :D
Let's hear it for bare feet! Although I just stepped on a wet squishy rawhide a few minutes ago... eeeewwww!

Have a great time! Can't wait to hear all about the festivities and, of course, see pictures of that fountain :D
Better a wet squishy rawhide that the alternative of wet squishy things that end up between your toes. I wear sandals and slides to work so I can take em off while at my desk  . I would never wear shoes if I didn't have to.
My son and his soon to be wife are here for the weekend, I'm headed back to Washington with them on Monday. I was talking to my Dad last night on the phone and he asked what I was going back to Washington so early for. I told him it was my last opportunity to impart a bit of Motherly advice to my son before his wedding to which he repsonded, "I hope it's not marriage advice"

Guess the old guy isn't as senile as we thought!!

Next day..........

I have to say goodby to my boys this morning and head to Washington with my baby boy. I'm excited to be headed off to the big even but I'm really going to miss my guys. Doug is coming down on Thursday but I won't see Tasker and Ty till TUESDAY
My son is appalled at the amount o luggage I have to pack in his car  but you never can tell what the "Mother of the groom" might need!!! I told him I could always leave the wedding gifts at home :D
