Soft crate recommendation

Okay, Charm and I are signed up for our first ever trial, and need to purchase a soft crate for the event. I looked through the past threads (2009) and recognize several from Sheepiepalooza.

Do you still recommend the ones you have, or is another one now more appealing? I'm interested in lightweight, durability and ease of set up. Lightweight and durability may not come together???

We are entering a rally trial in our own town, which is wonderful. Our classes began in June, and the competition is end of August. Charm does well, and is very smooth to follow my lead. It's just ME, already quaking :twitch: . But, we've worked hard and deserve a shot. Gotta start sometime....

Thanks for the advice and support :D

We have this one, from Precision. It seems very durable, but having said that Gracie did bust out when David was running Mady in an agility trial, but surely Charm will be more of a lady and stay quietly in her crate. Gracie never wants her sister to have fun without her. Once I learned how to set it up, it was easy. Good luck in your trial!

Thanks Kim. I like that it has four doors, making placement easy.

Poor Gracie, she is just too competitive

Not sure that Charm will be any different  :crossed:
Good for you!!!

I have the same one for Bond. He loves to have the top unzipped and watch everything going on around him. ;)

I have a Noz2Noz for Chewie, and I love that one as well. This one is a bit lighter weight, and easier to set up. (Not that either is heavy or even difficult)

I have the largest - the 42". I got it from a vendor at an agility trial, but you can find good deals online. One of my agility friends just got 2 for her goldens - and she found one of these for only $89....good shopper!
Thanks Dawn! One of our class friends had noz2noz recommendation.
Either of these works well. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't paying good money for less than in quality. Thanks for pointing out the size too.

Hmmm, maybe if we did that for Gracie, if she could watch the goings on, she would not try to bust out of her crate! :lmt:

True, Kim...she would not BUST out BUT she may jump out....WATCH IT!!!!

Brenda,

I have a couple of different soft crates. The ones mentioned are very sturdy. But, like Dawn said, if I were you, I would get a 42".. Seems to have just enough room for our fuzzybutts.

Take pictures of Charm in her new crate....I wish the pictures were working on the forum, I would love to post the 'crate' pics of Heart and the ones of Willow at 2014 Sheepiepalooza!!! They are soo cute when they are peering out of their crates..... :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Ditto on the noz2noz. Benson does incredibly well in hers (and it's a 42"). We use it all the time at weightpull competitions.
My agility friend and I have this crate:

http://www.amazon.com/Pet-Gear-Generati ... E2SA2CGRQK

Measures 41"L x 29"W x 28"H; for pets up to 90-pounds, and has a padded floor cushion, Monty is good in it, but my friends lab ripped the mesh screen with its nails and got out.
It's nice and big, easy to fold up and light weight. I bring a light blanket to put over the mesh areas if I want Monty to have privacy for a nap.
We have both the Noz2Noz and the PetGear soft crates and like both of them. The Noz2Noz is made a bit sturdier but both are well-made. Any soft crate can be escaped from if a dog really wants to. The Noz2Noz that we have has a zippered cloth carry bag, which I like because it keeps the crate nice and clean when not in use. The PetGear has a handle and straps that buckle everything together so it's just as easy to carry. Both are easy to set up and take down. You'd be happy with either one of these two crates. :-)
