8month Hollie at groomers

Hollie is at the groomers been 2hrs so far. This is her first time ever but she began getting matted. I tried to keep on top of the brushing but she became knotted in places especially her ears. She was also I think suffering with this heat. We are going on holiday this weekend and she will be in and out of the sea so decided to let her be clipped. Dreading fetching her she will look so different I asked for her not to be cut short so hope she listened. The groomer is also going to trim her nails/pads inside ears. Bet Hollie will feel a lot better having a makeover just hope she looks good. I do love seeing them with a long coat but I guess the mixture of puppy and adult coat just got a bit much to cope with. Hopefully I can now stay on top of things and let her fur grow a bit longer.

If she is going in and out of the water, you are smart to keep her trimmed, for her own comfort as well as saving you hours of grooming. I have three, one in full coat, one medium, and one in puppy cut. They are adorable whatever the hair style! When you pick her up, make a fuss over how beautiful she is. She might feel a bit naked at first, depending how short the groomer trims her. Post some pictures after so we can see how cute she is with her new 'do'!
She is still there and having chill out time before she has a bath. She has been clipped but kept the longest she could. I'm dreading seeing her with short hair but guess I'll get use to it and Hollie will feel a lot cooler. Her bottom was getting mated. She also loves rolling around in the soil which doesn't help her coat guess maybe trying to cool down.
No idea how to put photos on.
Think of it as a summer vacation haircut. When home you can let it grow and ...maybe one more clip down until Big Girl hair comes in and then she can be shaggy........until her next vacation.
Shocked when I first collected her. She went in with a black coat with grey/white bits and came out totally grey/white or blue/white except from some black still on ears. She has been running in the garden today so Definately must be feeling better without the heavy fur coat. She used to look like this pic :wag:
I remember that shock. I liked the trim better the next day. Haha. Still do miss the puppy black though and my Fred is a year and a half now.
Still in shock what have I done. Preferred her with long coat including puppy fur. Guess it will take time to get used to the different colouring. She looks so thin her puppy fur made her look like a bear soooo cute.
Can't enter shows now unless they have one for ugly puppy. Don't think I've cried so much. She has won 5 cutest pup 1st prize in 4 months what have I done. But that's me being selfish Hollie seems fine in herself running around being a nutcase. She feels cooler and at the end of the day her welfare counts. She could be dead in a thick coat overheating. At least she is now less at risk.
Really think the shock is this colour change that happened from taking to groomers to collecting her.
You were not being selfish! You said you were going on holiday, she could not have gone swimming every day in a full coat. She would be matted like crazy and that would be very uncomfortable for her. Plus a wet full coat is very very heavy! It will grow back and it won't take long to fluff out. So enjoy the extra time you have since you aren't grooming a full coat and go play with her and hug her and tell her how beautiful she is!
