My mother picked up her new car tonight

2015 Mazda CX-5 Touring AWD
2.5l I4, 6-speed auto, 184 hp.
It's a pretty neat little CUV.

CUV?
CUV can stand for: crossover utility vehicle or compact utility vehicle. Think small size SUV
I think your mother will enjoy it! Usually taller (depending on manufacturer) so easier for arthritic hips and knees to enter and leave, large enough for her needs, good for tooting around the city and country.......and cute. Several of my seasoned friends are now driving CUVs.
Cute, but it looks a little cramped for the boys to ride around in ;)

LOL, I figured it wasn't Cute Utility Vehicle!!

Looks like a fun car. :D
Susan is correct; Compact Utility Vehicle. Although a lot of car magazines call them Cute Utes.

It's the same length as her outgoing '02 Civic, 3 or 4 inches wider, and 10 inches taller.
So not too much bigger than the Civic, but she says it feels bigger. She's nervous, what with it feeling bigger and being brand new. It's gonna take a little while for her to get used to it. I suspect that she'll really like it when the first big snowstorm hits this winter.

I actually could see the boys in this car. Sometimes we go to visit my sister in Boston and if we take this vehicle, I guess the dogs will be in the back seat. As least that's what I'm thinking.
Does the back seat fold down? I'm guessing so.

We are on the fence in getting a sedan or a crossover for my husband. The giant truck is great for field work, but not his long trips.
I hope she has many enjoyable days behind the wheel.

Yes it does.
It's a split seat. The center of it can fold down for long items, either side can fold down, or any combination therein. Pretty versatile.
Very nice as typing this with envy. I have a year old. Vauxhall corsa which was my husbands car but traded my little citroen in so now he drives a Renault Laguna and I now have his corsa but good car.
Very nice looking vehicle!
nice! I just bought a Holden Trax here in Australia ...... I think it is a GM in the U.S

Yup, Holden is GM's Australian division.

We get a version of the Trax here in the States. It's the Buick Encore.
She looked at the Encore and actually liked it better, but it was much more expensive when similarly equipped. Plus she found the 1.4L turbo 4 cylinder engine to be much too weak for the car.

The folks in Canada get the Trax. It's a Chevy Trax up there. And GM just made the decision to bring the Chevy Trax to the States this fall.
Nice looking car!
