An IMPRESSIVE UTI

To further prove how special she is...Izzie now has a UTI that the vet described as "impressive." Seriously!!!

While she had them regularly for a few years, we have been UTI free for a while now. It is just like Izzie to come back with a bang

how uncomfortable for her! Hope she heals quickly.
Poor Izzie. Hoping they get her on the right ABX right away and she is feeling better soon.
Get well soon Izzie.

:ghug:
Glad you found out before Sheepiepalooza, so she will be in full Izzy mode. Poor girl, hope she feels better soon. :ghug:
Feel better fast Izzy!

Cindy
She is on baytril, which is supposed to be strong...and I know it is expensive 8O

She has been on it before and it worked well. Her obvious symptoms are gone now, so now she just needs to actually kick the infection :high5:
Get well soon Izzy! See you in St. Louis :D !
How's Izzie doing? She looked like she was having a lot of fun at Sheepiepalooza.
She's doing better. She got an extra week of antibiotics and will be finished with those this Friday. Then testing to make the infection is really gone. :cheer:
Forgive me for a question that may seem dumb to some of you, what caused Izzie to get an uti/numerous utis before? I had a male cat that got one and vet said he had crystals from food/not drinking enough water and the way males were built. Could it be her food or water source?? And thank you for your answers. Just trying to broaden my knowledge. And I am very glad she is feeling better.
I think generally, females are more likely to get them. That extends to humans as well.

Izzie in particular, I think the way she is physically shaped there makes it more likely. Also, I have heard that UTI's are one of those things that the more you get them the more likely you are to get them again...so it is a spiraling problem.

We have always pushed plenty of water on her and induced her to drink by adding stuff sometimes. Then making sure to take her out to pee more often to empty the bladder. We make sure to keep her trimmed and clean, as well.

She also started getting fewer when we switched from kibble to a raw diet. I don't know if going mostly grain free helped.
Thanks for the info. How do you suspect she has one? Since my puppy can't talk to me, what signs would I look for in the future? I do think food has a lot to do with some of our pets issues. My dog Lucy has allergies and switching her to a grain free has helped a lot, only poor thing has a serious issue with pollen. So twice a year it gets really bad. It is so frustrating trying to take great care of our babies yet they get sick anyway. And I hope you were not offended in any way. I was not implying you were not a great parent. I was genuinely curious/concerned. The water question-I should of explained what I was thinking while I was typing I remember reading some articles about people having city water and their pets having issues even after vet visits and medication, then they switched to distilled water and it ended the issues. I guess I thought your ESP was working when I typed it. :)
Glad Miss Izzie is better.
The biggest sign is frequent urination and the inability to hold it because of pain. She will squat and pee, take two steps and pee again...etc.

Also sometimes people can see blood in the urine but since she squats so low to the ground we've never noticed that.
