I don't know much about the lifetime of the Lepto vaccination. It might be really long term and not truly needed every year, like the distemper combo has been proven. But then it might be a short term action, similar to the Bordatella, which in most dogs is only working 4-6 months.  I do know that after not being recommended at all for many years, that it now is in certain areas across the country where the risk and incidence has gone up significantly. |
| If your dog leaves your yard, I'd at least think about it. The more they are exposed to new situations, new dogs, the higher the chances are if infection. If they drink from puddles..probably a good idea. Since my guys are prisoners here, don't get out, I skip the vax as long as I can. |
| Currently, it is recommended to have this vac in my part of the country. We live in an area where raccoons, oppossums, iguanas, ducks etc are often seen and have been known to visit our yard we decided to go forth with this vac for our Stella as she loves water be it wet grass or puddles. |
