Guinevere and The Ducks

Last week, my wife was walking Guinevere along the canal across the street from our house. She has taken her along there many times, and she is interested in the ducks, but loses interest when they fly from the banks to the water. We think it is because their quacking sounds just like her "fetch toy" that is a duck and makes this disgusting quacking sound - it was her present from a friend, so what can you do?

So this particular day, the ducks send up their quacking alert, and fly from the banks into the water, and Guinney decides she will follow them in! My wife said that she just took off and leaped into the canal and did a belly flop about 4 feet out! We have an expando leash, and the water is not that deep (a regulated canal), so my wife kinda "reeled" back to shore. Guinney was soaked, and this being the first time she has really been all wet, was quite embarassed at the way her fur was matted by the water. She put her head down and hid it between my wife's knees and didn't want to go on walking!

She had to be taught to kinda shake the water off her, having not done that before either. I wish my wife had had a camera for that one!

Poor thing! What a cute story, though - thanks for sharing it! It entirely made me smile this morning!
That is the cutest story. My Max like to "herd" the Canadian geese at the local park. He likes to pick out just one of the flock and chase it until it flys away.
Belive it ...Pisco has the same geese addiction!! :D
Last week we went camping to a nearby (2 hrs) camping area.....there was a big pond with geese ...at first Pisco wouldn`t pay attention to them....but later on the day he started herding them...of course the geese did`t like it and got inside the pond.....with Pisco just behind them :D .... and the next day I was on one side of the pond and my husband had Pisco on the other side....he just sighted his mommy (me) and took a short cut....through the middle of the pond, and of course he had to put his paws on me and give me a big kiss....
on the way back we stopped at a beach....and yes again.... as soon as I was in the water Pisco came right in... he had so much fun at the beach...he chased every wave he could and when the waves came back he would start walking backwards barking ...and not to mention the crabs...(I think he thought there were lots of toys to play)...it was hillarious to watch.
