These are the signs we are going to use on the Rally Loops at the Sheepie Games, in case you want to learn and practice them if you want to enter. Instead of a course, the signs will be placed in a square loop to make it simple and quick.

The Novice signs are very basic and done on-leash. The Advanced and Excellent are a more complicated version of some of the Novice signs and are done off-leash.

Rally Loop Novice
#3 – Sit
#5 – Right Turn
#10 – 270 degree Left
#24 – Serpentine Weave Once
#13 – Call Front Finish Right Forward
#30 – Halt Walk Around Dog

Rally Loop Advanced
#5 – Right Turn
#10 – 270 degree Left
#16 – Call Front Finish Left Halt
#34 – Halt Right Turn – Forward
#103 – Send Over Jump
#105 – Halt Stand Walk Around Dog
#114 – Halt Down Sit

Rally Loop Excellent
#10 – 270 degree Left
#103 – Send Over Jump
#104 – Halt Turn Right 1 Step Call to Heel Halt
#106 – Halt 90 degree Pivot Right Halt
#111 – Halt Call Dog Front Finish Left Halt
#201 – Halt Stand Down
#203 – Moving Stand Walk Around Dog
#211 – Double Left About Turn
I encourage anyone attending Sheepiepalooza to give one of these events a try.

Val and I entered our first Rally trial after teaching ourselves to do Rally with just six practices back in 2008. I had learned a front and a finish at obedience class so I was able to apply what I learned at class to the Rally signs. If your dog is currently enrolled in a basic obedience class you can ask your instructor to teach you a front.

The obedience sits and downs are usually part of teaching a dog to stay in a basic obedience class. The same with the recall - it is just a fancy term for "come".
I am so excited about these Sheepiegames~~~~

Although Willow will be only nine months old at Sheepiepalooza, and we haven't done anything more than the basic Obedience class, I plan on entering her in as much as I can. I think seeing her manuver the signs and the commands will be a HOOT~~~

And, isn't that why we all attend this wonderful event for????

To bond with our furkids, to be with others who 'walk in our shoes', and to test the limits of both of our 'talents'??????

:clappurple: :clappurple: :cheer: :cheer: :yay: :excited: :excited:

can't wait!!!!!! :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
I'm so bummed we will be missing this. :( I can't wait to see pics (and, hopefully, video) of all the fun!

I'm hoping I can work it out to tag along with DH on his yearly softball trip to St. Louis and meet some of you. :crossed:
Benson is primed for the agility, and the relay sounds like a blast!

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Ooooh! The games sound like lots of fun! Can't wait to see how Teddy will do in all the games. Count us in for all of them!

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:

Cindy
Games, games = Fun, fun!!

And they are for a good cause too - as OES rescue will benefit....each game you enter gives more $ to rescue!!
8) Fred says Bring it!!!!!!! We are in for Rally and Obedience for sure! Gonna play agility by ear since I don't jump her that high yet..
Sounds FUN!! Murphy is in!!
I didn't see any forms for the games, so I'm assuming we sign up for those that day and pay for what we enter?

Cindy
That is correct Cindy. It is mentioned on the picnic form and says that you enter that day.
Oops, didn't catch that! Thanks Judi!

I decided to start refreshing Bert on obedience and rally in anticipation of the Sheepie Games. I taught him the first part of the Novice Recall a couple of months ago. So this morning.....

I put him on a sit next to my left side. He sits nicely. :high5:
I tell him to "Wait" and leave him. He waits patiently at the other end of the room. :yay:
Then I call him "Bert, come". He starts coming in a nice straight line towards me. :clappurple:
Uh,oh he is not slowing down :twitch:
And he jumps into me! 8O

Bert it is a front not a jump!

Looks like we are going to need a little more work on our "recall".

He needs air brakes.....lol

Cindy

Today Bert did much better on his recall. :yay: He actually did a nice little front instead of plowing into me. :phew:

And I started signaling him with no words for a right finish and he seemed to grasp that too. 8)

What I love about working with these guys is they get so excited about doing something. You can actually see it in Harry's eyes. They light up and get real alert. I really think it helps keep him young. It is fun seeing Bert learning things too. I really need to make time to work with both of them more.

I can't wait to watch all the Sheepies in the Sheepie Games. :wag:
Bond and I did our 3rd leg of the BN (Beginner Novice) last weekend, and I was actually surprised (well, we had been practicing, but you just NEVER know what crazy thing they will do with an audience) that he came on the first command, came perfectly straight AND sat right in front of my toes! And in BN - that's all they need to do.
He looked so surprised when I gave him his "all done!" and he got praised.... you could tell he thought "wow, I got a bonus praise and play" without having to finish. ;) He's such a nut.
Well.....

Willow is clueless~~~~~~

She will be nine months old at Sheepiepalooza.....(I think I was told sheepie brains begin to develop at 18 months) :lmt:

I am selling front row seats to see Wee Willie NOT do anything, but look around at the people and sheepies....

Please hurry...tickets are few and precious..only...$30.00 per seat..(it includes one chair to sit on, and a birdseye veiw of the...................

2014 GLITZ GIRL

that's all I got... :headbang: :headbang: :lmt: :phew: :headbang: :headbang:

She's all you need!!!! Willow and Charm will be watching their boys perform, like my teen granddaughter at the boys regional track meet
Right, Brenda~~~
Maybe Willow and Charm should sit in the 'reserved' seats???? That way ALL the boys will only have eyes for THEM and NOT their mommies.......... :excited: :excited: :yay: :yay: :excited: :excited: :excited:

(Just so everyone knows....I am entering Willow is everything!!!!..I want her to experience all of our Sheepiepalooza, not just the outside dining and Ted Drews Custard!!!!)......
Front row seats are a good spot to pick me up after Bert knocks me over on a recall.

Then Bert can bark his head off at Willow and Charm when they are participating in the games. :cheer:
Oh, good one Brenda!

Too funny, but we love strong, smart and beautiful girls and there is no discrimination at Sheepiepalooza! :roses:
Last night I drove to Illinois to a training facility to work with Harry on some obedience for a trial we have this weekend. We hadn't been there in two months because regular life dared to interfere. Anyway, I had to laugh because Bert started chirping the minute we pulled into the parking lot. He chirps when he is excited.

So I think no matter what Bert does in the Sheepie Games he will be happy to be participating.
Are we allowed to use treats during the games? or is it like AKC rules in that respect?
Since this is kind of a stepping stone to competition I would say no treats. One reason is that treats tend to fall when you are feeding them and then the next dog is distracted by the treats that are on the "floor" so to speak and so it is a detriment to them. I realize that we are in grass but you should see Harry search for a dropped treat as if it is the last treat on earth.

It will be fine as we will all be at the same disadvantage and therefore much more entertaining for the spectators.
The agility arena where we do a lot of our training also doubles as a sheep pasture. Part of Benson's training is no scrounging for "treats" the sheep leave behind.

She hasn't been on any agility equipment for a while. And she's never actually competed. This should be interesting!

:lmt:
Oh don't worry - Bond is not even CLOSE to being ready to compete! :) She won't be the only one. Heck, he's never even been to any classes for agility beside the 6 week weaves class we just did. And my weather has not been anywhere cooperative to get my stuff set up outside yet! :(
