Happy 14th Birthday Mariah

Today is Mariah's 14th birthday. It's hard to believe she is that old. She sure doesn't act all that old. As one of my close dog show friends told me one time "Mariah has no idea how old she is!" Not as fast & agile as my younger dogs or even as 9 year old José but she still trots right out the door & gallops back into the house. The spring is still definitely in her step when the family room door opens! She & I have such wonderful memories over 12-1/2 years in the conformation & performance rings. But the best memories of all are those of just living with her. She's been the one I could always count on to know exactly how she would act in any given situation. She has always had the patience of Job. 14 years is such a wonderful landmark. As I am sure my vet will say on Tuesday when we go in for your yearly check-up..."you've been blessed with probably 4 extra years so far considering she's a bigger breed dog". The bittersweet thing about this age is that you know it just can't go on forever. As every day passes you know you really are that much closer to the day you will have to say goodbye. Happy 14th Birthday Mariah, my sweet singleton. And this year you get ice cream twice today instead of just once!

Mariah not only acts but looks younger. She's gorgeous.

She got twice the ice cream of the others & licked her chops for 10 minutes! :lol: Jim's comment: "They take 3 times as long to eat their ice cream as they do to eat their food!" 8O She had a great day & came bouncing out of her kennel this morning turning circles to go outside! As I said, she has no idea how old she is. Either that or she does know & wants to make the most of every minute of it. :hearts:
