Rough weekend

I noticed the younger cat (Kyanite) had a slight limp, I felt over his paw, didn't find any thorns didn't find any bites so I took the wait and see approach. By Friday, Kyanite's paw was terribly swollen and he wasn't putting any weight on it. I got him into the vet and it was there that an abscess opened and started to drain. He's allergic to the liquid antibiotic, so I get to put little pills into the equivalent of a furry, and very angry, blender.

The same day the 6 year old boy said his ear popped funny, but it didn't really hurt. No fever, he did school and played like normal. In the evening he spiked a fever, so we did what we could to keep that down through the night and took him into the immediate care the next morning. That funny pop turned out to be a ruptured eardrum and terrible infection. He missed his big dance performance at the college that afternoon and I missed seeing his sisters dance since I was taking care of him. The girls came home at dinner break and the oldest said she was tired and didn't feel well. She took a nap, and when I went to wake her for the evening, she had a fever of 105.5! So she missed her evening performances and I went back to immediate care with the oldest, who has an ear infection.

By 3:30 am on Sunday the 9 year old child woke up crying that her ear hurt, but she didn't have a fever. We did what we could to relieve the pain and then took her in Sunday morning to immediate care. She too has an ear infection, her fever spiked after we got home from the Dr.

So if you are keeping track, I now have three kids on antibiotics and ear drops and a cat on antibiotics. Dan and I both have the bad cold that started the kids off. I'm incredibly thankful that I did my homework for my classes on Thursday and Friday so that I'm ready for today. I'm also thankful that my kids are ages 6-10 instead of 0-4. Even with them being older this is exhausting.

I did get the dogs brushed out today, and I made it to my 8 am class. I still have my afternoon class to go to and I've got to work on the dogs' training assignments, plus my reading and homework for Thursday. The kids have had sick days yesterday and today for their schooling, but I need to get the rest of the weekly assignments planned out and written in the book. You know, I'd really rather lay on the sofa and try not to cough up a lung today.

Thanks for letting me whine. :)

How awful! There is one bright side to this (though I admit it's a very small one) - at least they're all sick at once, so they should recover around the same time. That's a little better than getting sick one after another. (Isn't it?)

Hope you and Dan can catch enough rest to fight off your colds, too. A shot of whiskey before bedtime wouldn't hurt either.

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Lordy!!! :twitch:

You're an incubation centre right now.
Take care of all of you!!!
I've been calling our household a cesspool of infection. And yeah, if everyone is down at once then it shouldn't take as long to get everyone well.

Right now, everyone has the antibiotic crazies, where kids are flipping out over such important matters as "who touched my green marble?!" and "My shirt is on backwards and its the end of the world!"

The funny thing is that Amy has pretty much glued herself to me ever since I got sick. She won't do anything Dan says and either has laid by my side of the bed or at my feet the entire time. Which while kind of cute, is kind of not cute since Dan can't get her to go outside to go potty.
Wow it sounds like your hands are full. I hope everyone gets better quickly.
8O 8O Hope all are on the mend. That really was a tough weekend!
The kids are on the mend and the man is on the downswing. I'm guessing I'll be going in tomorrow for antibiotics for a sinus infection, and I'm willing to bet that the man will need them by the time all is said and done too. This is crazy. Our family never gets this kind of sick. The kids have probably had antibiotics 4 times between the 3 of them, in almost 11 years.

I only really have to make it through teaching the kids after lunch, going to Math (sob), and dog training class tonight. Tomorrow, I can be sick.
