Understanding full sentences

I know I haven't posted anything in FOREVER, but wanted to generate some chit chat. Does anyone else's OES understand full sentences? This cracks me up every single day. Ever since Annie left us 2 1/2 years ago, Foz has become very comfortable begging silently in the kitchen. He hovers and follows us around. When we tell him to "lie down", he ignores us. When we say "Lie down or leave the room", he lies down every time without fail :) Just makes me smile every time!

Yes, I've noticed all 3 of my dogs did understand sentences. I could tell by their reaction to what I said. Violet was a good one for tuning me out when she wanted too. (I really miss her)
Tonks and Luna understand way more than I'm comfortable with. They have a pair of dogs they've known since they were puppies, and when we bought our house 4 years ago we've had almost weekly playdates with Jake and Sophie:

the girls playing with Jake.

I can say "Do you want to play with Jake and Sophie?" and they run to the door to the back yard. If I say "Are Jake and Sophie here?" they will run to the picture window that over looks the drive way, to see if the car that Jake and Sophie arrive in is parked there. For a long time I just thought the trigger word JakeandSophie was getting a response. Then I realized if I asked them different things, they would have different reactions. Too darned smart!
Oh that is a hoot! Don't tell me they don't know what you're talking about!! :)
If he won't lie down at first, all it takes is "then leave the room" and he lies down.

too funny! I'll tell Tonks and Luna "Lie down" and if they go partway into it, like I can see they are suspending their underbellies centimeters from the floor, I have to say "all the way" and then they plop down.
I love that you have to threaten him with "or leave the room"- that's priceless!
He is like a kid! We threaten him with a consequence:)
When they don't follow the directions the first time, I start counting "one, two..." I've never had to say three.
I don't know how thye learned it and I'm sure it is my fault.
Tiggy knows some sentences for example if Wayne says 'should I walk Tiggy' she does nothing.
If he says 'I'm going to walk Tiggy she runs to the door'.
If he says 'I'm going to walk the dogs' (we walk them separately) she watches intently, tries to get through the baby gate first (take me, take me) and waits to see which lead he gets out before she either goes nuts (her lead) or gets a depressed look on her face (Rastus' lead).

There are other examples and Wayne and I just look at each other in amazement tinged with horror, :D shake our heads and say that she's too smart.

Rastus on the other hand isn't half as smart and now that his hearing is deteriorating his new nickname is 'Deaf Dumbo' as he's always the last to figure out what's going on.
