What happens when the sucky toy falls apart

Monty likes to suck on his soft toy skunk every evening for a while.
It's getting very thread bare and will soon be falling apart.
He has another skunk exactly the same but does not suck on it.
Does anyone know what happens if the sucky toy is gone, do they adopt another one?

I can't help with any advice about a sheepie and his sucky toy but a friend of mine's young son had a teddy bear that he absolutely could not go to sleep without. The bear had a ribbon around it's neck that had started out life as a beautiful bow and ended up as scraggly scrap of fabric tied around the bear's neck. Her son was in the habit of sucking on the ribbon as he went to sleep.

She was very worried about what she was going to do as the bear became more and more threadbare. Much like Monty's skunk it was being loved to death. I suggested she buy the same bear and tie the old ribbon around it's neck. This approach worked for her.

Maybe when Mr Skunk is finally falling apart tying a piece of the old skunk to the new one will help. I'd also start putting new skunk in Monty's bed because it's often the smell that is wrong.

Hopefully someone will be able to give you some advice based on dog experience. :D
Have you stitched and stitched? I love the idea of transferring one part to another, but those toys don't have a transferrable piece--if it's anything like Kensie's squirrel. Though lately she's been sucking on my down cover
I like the idea sewing a bit of old skunk to new skunk, that I can do.
He defiantly knows which is his sucky skunk as both as well as other stuffed toys are on his bed and he will pick out his sucky skunk.
He loves it so much that he wants to play tug with it but we say no, get your other skunk and we have to point to it, he isn't very bright as he never remembers that he is not allowed to play tug with sucky skunk.
I would stitch him together!

But, that's the only advice I have, haha. Other than that, this is adorable! =)
oooh, stitch them together! That would keep the proper smells in place and provide room for more chewing. I can see in the future some monster rag tag assembly of softies.
Elwood's goes to animal hospital, which I do my doctors stitching and he is so happy when they are returned. The eyes go first and then the rest
Monty looks so cute with his skunk :hearts:

What a great idea with the sewing!

Lyra gets miffed when I wash her monkeybaby. I have to bump the household laundry to expresswash & dry her toy before naptime....If (ok, "when!") I get another puppy I want to have at least two identical toys that are rotated from the beginning :)

This is a picture of Heart's sheepiebaby taken in 2008. She had a total of 3. 2 of them were the same size, and one was a minisheepiebaby.

Heart was a huge suck and paddler, and her poor babies were in very very bad shape. :(

She had no trouble transfering from one to the other. They were all hers for the...ummm...'sucking'

I gave the minisheepiebaby to Willow, when she came to us, and she immediately gutted it..... :twitch: :twitch:

One of the sheepies went with Heart to Rainbow Bridge. And the last one I have close to me. Although I don't do what Heart did to it, I find comfort in hugging it quite often.

So,,,, I agree with the rest...try to sew a piece of the old on the new and hopefully, you will continue to enjoy watching Monty enjoying a time in his life when that is all he had to do was eat and sleep.. :lmt: :lmt:
We've tried that replacing the all time sucky, clucky toy with the same. Unfortunately not the SAME and no interest at all, have learnt to stich and repair!!!! They still want there one and only favs..................

Mim got syd a bally ropey toy, he adores it, but the rope part is nearly sucked and chewed through. Finding another one with the same type of rope on it well he does not want a bar of it, not the same as what Aunty mim gave him. He does not chew the ball part, just likes sucking the end of it and carrying it in his mouth from side to side swinging it :?  Only ever picks it up of a night time and sucks on it, chews it like flossing his teeth, then stands up to show daddy the bally part swinging from side to side.

His new one which is exactly the same, he does not want    Give me old faithfull any day in syds mind :P

Brie has had her toy pupper for 12 years, it's eyes are missing, nose gone, every now and then the stuffing starts to pop out, I just keep on Keeping on with a needle and thread. All the toys she has had over the years, this one is her keeper. So not much left of it now, stiched to the hilt, but we manage to keep it alive for her

Funny how they have there all time favourite ones, even though you think I get them the same but not so ratty, well in the opinion of my mod NEVER THE SAME as the original. :P (pssst get sewing to repair 8) )
The blues sisters do the same thing to their babies. They play tug-o-war with them until they rip.... So you have to take the toy away and get a new toy because if the stuffing or strings get stuck in their intestines they could get a blockage and die. they are crazy clowns and love their babies....
