I'd like you all to meet Genevieve!

My SIL, Beaureguard and I left last Wednesday evening and drove to Clarksville, TN. It was about an 8 hour trip and Beaureguard did wonderfully! I was so proud of him. He'd never been in the car for more than 30 minutes before this trip. He slept most of the way, so consequently, he didn't sleep at all when we arrived at the Red Woof Inn. :( Oh well....Mom didn't need any sleep anyways.

We arrived at Ingrid's early on Thursday morning and Beau hopped out of the car, eager to greet his new sister. Where is she, Mom?? Where is she??

There you are, Sis! Nice to meet you!

They were friends instantly and took off like two kids, to run and around and play together.

Here I am for my first official "portrait" with my two babies: Beaureguard and Genevieve:

Finally, after about an hour of playing with Ingrid's three sheepies, it was time to load up and start home. Genevieve decided she would drive.
Image

But, before long, they were both sacked out in the back.
Image

Genevieve had to ride with her head on the console or on my shoulder. :D

Last pitstop before home. Let's go, Mom!!

Image

They were pretty excited to get home together and began playing in the house immediately. Of course, Beau shows her how to get in trouble first thing!
Image

Whew! All that play wears me out! Welcome home, Genevieve!! :D

All told, she's making the transistion wonderfully. She's adjusting to us and we are to her. Last night, she kept barking and whining in the kitchen and I couldn't get her to settle down. Finally it dawned on me that she was asking to go outside to potty! DUH!! Poor girl! Her Mom's dense!! Beau never asks. He just goes out at regular intervals. So, we've both got some learning to do. But, seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better fit to our little family. They're like peas in a pod!! Beaureguard is thrilled to have a playmate and Genevieve seems genuinely happy too.

Thanks, y'all. I was really, really glad they took to one another so quickly. It sure makes life easier!! :D

I think she's pretty, too, but then I'm a little biased.
It is so wonderful to hear how well they get along.
She is beautiful! Congrats

Hi,

Did I ever enjoy viewing your photos and have clicked on them a couple times tonight...ahhh never tire of looking at sheepie pics. These were very special and how fortunate you are (I'm very jealous) they got along so famously!!! I can't wait to hear more stories and seeing many more pics! Congrats to you on your new girl. Congrats to Beau on his new sis..and yeah for Genevieve for finding such a special new home. I think she knows it...by the look of her smile!

Marianne and the boys
Welcome!!! They are great looking dogs! I'm looking forward to seeing more adventures from them in the future.

I couldn't help looking that you have a jeep liberty. We've been thinking getting a mid sized SUV like and explorer or a liberty for ourselves. How well do your sheepies fit in there? Is there space for humans when they are traveling with you?
Thanks, Marianne. It's been almost a week and so far things are still going well. I know it will take some time for her to really feel like she belongs, settle down, and let us get to know the "real" Genevieve. But we love her already! :D

Saul - I rented the Liberty for this trip. I drive a Camry and it just wouldn't fit those two plus luggage. Beau takes up the entire backseat on his own. :)
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the Liberty for two sheepdogs plus two people for a long term relationship. It was okay for an overnight trip, but if I were going on a real vacation with the dogs, it would not be enough room for two people, two dogs, luggage, crates, doggie toys, food, bowls, etc. Plus, I was REALLY disappointed in the gas mileage. I had to stop three times both directions on a 450 mile/each way trip. JMHO

I'm now looking to expand in this department myself. As I said, Beaureguard takes up the whole backseat of my car. He thinks he has to lay down and take a nap while he rides. He doesn't even want to consider sitting up and sharing the space. :) Genevieve likes to ride sitting up and would probably do okay in the front seat, but then where would I put my passenger? Plus, when I have the kids (my niece & nephews), they have to ride in the back seat, so I have to choose between kids and sheepies (it's a tough choice!! ). So, I'm shopping again. I'm re-reading the post about bragging on your SUV that I think Daisie started a few months ago to get some ideas.
Good luck in your search & let me know how it goes! :)
Tammy,
Don't know how I missed this post yesterday, but congrats! Genevieve is gorgeous - love her coloring. How old is she?

Beauregard and Genevieve look so happy together. Hope the smooth transition continues!

Looking forward to more pics and stories!

Chris
We rented a Jeep Liberty not too long ago and I would have to agree with Beauregard's Mom. We were unable to take our 4 leggeds, but it was very uncomfortable for 4 adults with luggage. Of course, our sheepies take up as much room as an adult, so ......
Thanks, you just confirmed what I feared. They are cool, but we will need a larger car if we're planning to have doggies + kids on the future. I'll probably start looking around for the and explorer or something of that size at the least.
Thanks, Chris! :D
She's exactly one year and two weeks older than Beaureguard. He's eight months old today and she's a year and eight months. Perfect match!

She was surrendered by her owners to OESRNSE. She was too boistrious (sp?) for their children so she was just put outside. She was fed, but not given much, if any, attention. Thankfully, they turned her over to OESRNSE and now she's my baby!! :D

Saul - I'm looking at the Toyota Highlander. Have you looked at those?
They look so wonderful together! Congratulations! You are going to have so much fun with the two of them.
Wow, I missed these while I was on vacation. Great pictures! You've sure got two good looking sheepies! Congratulations on the addition to your family :D
Fun shots.
Welcome to the forum!
Thanks so much for that! I just loved the whole story with pictures to go along! Your avatar is perfect! They just look so happy and comfortable together! Like it was meant to be!

I can hardly wait to find a second sheepie! Hopefully GG looks as happy as Beaureguard when it happens!

Please keep the adventure stories coming!

Congrats! :D

Colleen and Gucci George=>where's my girlfriend?
Thanks! I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures.

We've had Genevieve for two weeks now and she really feels like part of the family. She & Beaureguard are still getting on wonderfully. I have been letting them out early in the mornings to romp & play before it gets too hot.

Genevieve's favorite game is chase the cats. Fortunately, the cats have gotten wise to her and now are refusing to participate. :) They've figured out if they don't run, she soon tires of the game and just lays down and licks them. :)

Beaureguard is enjoying the puppy pool. They both get in and splash around. It's quite amusing to watch. I'll have to see if I can get some photos....from a distance of course - they get a little wild! :D :D
