I saw an OES puppy today

Hi All,
Hubby & I were driving today and I looked to my left and there was on OES puppy being walked down the sidewalk 8O
I got so excited. I haven't seen any around...especially a puppy.
The woman that grooms Pepsi says she does two other OES in the area, but they are older.
Actually the week we got Pepsi my hubby was driving around in Palm Springs and saw 2 OES being walked in different locations. He had never even seen one (in real life) before that.
How come I never see them?
It's nice to know their out there...just wish Pepsi could have an OES friend.

You know what I always fear? Running into another OES and not having ours with us!!!!!

When people come up to me and say "We have one" ....more than 99% of the time, they don't even know the breed and/or they're lying.

Then when people say "we had one" ...I smile but that does us little good (as far as our own excitement).

Soooooo... I always cross my fingers that when we run into another one, we have our Yuksters with us so we can play and back up the bragging/sharing! :D
I know of several OES in the Palm Springs area. I imagine most are exercised when it's "cooler" or in the family swimming pool

I would love to see these dogs. I have taken Pepsi to the dog park in Palm Springs praying I would see one. This was months ago... It's too hot now unless I go early in the morning.
All I saw there was Boxers and Labs, some Huskies & German Shepherds and a bunch of mutts.
Pepsi loved them all, but I bet he would be so excited to see another OES.
He knows what he looks like. He looks in the mirror all the time.
Jo, I had a guy come up to me at the dog park and ask what breed Pepsi was. I told him and his response are aren't the viscious. I said far from it. Where do these people get their info? I have also been told by people that they had one years ago but their dog was much smaller...Well that must have been pure BS because they don't get much smaller than Pepsi. He's only 60 lbs

let me see if the upright is in town and open to having visitors. her sheepies are a bit older so maybe not in mood for guests.
It's 4 hours from Phoenix to Palm Springs. Too bad there is absolutely NOTHING in between or we could drive out and meet you halfway.
How bout the middle of the Desert? lol
Just kidding. We do plan on coming out that way in the fall and bringing Pepsi. We'll have an OES mini picnic
SheepieBoss... It's not Mary is it?
Elissa
I cant wait for our 1st annual fall puppy picinic!!!! you'll bring the kids too, right? Nothing like having the kids poop out the pups... :D
I might leave the kiddies with my parents. I have a Honda CRV I don't think we would all fit...plus luggage
Okay, just make sure you bring Billy's bbq sauce :D Ill be just as happy!!
Sheepieboss, I've had a similar thing!! Apparantly, there's a guy in town who has sheepies and goes to my vet (they take a picture of puppies with their owners). This guy knows my neighbor, but has NEVER met me. He keeps telling her that I should have never gotten a sheepdog with having small kids, and that he's going to have to end up "rescuing" my dog, because I won't be able to handle him. Boy, I hope I never meet that guy.
oops! Sorry, I guess that was Pepsi's mommy who had the comment about the viscious dog. It's late!!
people can be so ignorant....My golden was more of a pain than Panda! Muffy chewed everything, plaster walls, furniture, etc! and she even bit a neighbor girl....Panda is loving and docile...a wet stuffed animal!!
Karen,
What a weirdo..and he has Sheepies?
I rescued Pepsi when I was 7 mos pregnant. He was 11 mos old.
My daughter is now 5 mos old and Pepsi adores her
He is wonderful with both my kids.
I've never seen another sheepdog around here since we've gotten Jasper. We had a couple that came into our grooming parlor, but they both moved away. They seem to be a rare breed in this area. Even our vet said that Jasper was the first sheepie she'd seen in years. They love him there. :) Most of the breeds around here are labs (LOTS of labs), rotts, poodles, schnauzers, maltese, goldens, and yorkies (which is probably going to be our next puppy).

I can't believe that guy said that about sheepies. Jasper LOVES my boys and he's great with them now that the nipping has stopped. :D
Not signed in and too lazy.........yes, it's Mary in Palm Springs.
I have met Mary and her husband Ken?
Also her dog Annie and I forget the male.
She not in Palm Springs but near here.
She's actually the person who helped me get Pepsi when I rescued him.
She's a very busy woman. I actually keep her updated on Pepsi by e-mail
Thanks SheepieBoss :D
Yeah! I think his sheepies are the only others in the area, but I've run into sooo many people who say they want to get one. This guy told my neighbor that Bob would be able to "rip her dog to shreds" if he needed to! Her dog is part lab and part chow - he actually makes me nervous because he's very territorial of his yard and goes bonkers when he sees Bob. This guy makes sheepies sound like pitbulls reputations!! Oh well, what are you going to do??

Karen
Karen,
I really don't know where this guys gets his info from. And why is he talking about Bob. He doesn't even know him. Maybe his dogs are viscious but the only way they get that way is either training or bad breeding. My nephew brought his Akita, Aiko over a couple of weeks ago and Pepsi was playing with my Sister In Law's Mini Schnauzer, Kat. Kat is 9 yrs old and does not like any dogs...she tolerates them though. But with Pepsi she initiates play with him. She adores him. So Pepsi and Kat were playing and Aiko came over and attacked Pepsi. If Pepsi had a tail it would have been between his legs. Pepsi ran inside and wanted no part of fighting. Later on Aiko realized that Pepsi was submissive and became friends with him. I'd watch out for the neighbors dog. Chow's are very territorial and have reps for being viscious and bad with kids. When I lived in NY one of the neighbors was walking his Chows and they saw my Boxer in my yard and went nuts trying to get to her. My poor Boxer was shaking.

Does this guy have any history of questionable mental health? What a fruitcake. Why would he tell people stuff like that? He sounds bored and like he just wants to start trouble. It's people like that that make me love dogs!
Thanks!! I was beginning to think I was crazy when she first told me about this. I was thinking "how did I miss this about their behavior??" I really researched different breeds of dogs to come up with the sheepies and really had to hunt to find one, so he certainly wasn't a decision on a whim! He does have a dominant personality so isn't super with other dogs but we're going to start bringing him to doggie daycare once a week. He's great with the kids though, just excited - but they're never alone with him. Just because of their size, he's taller than 2 of them now when he's on 2 legs. So funny!!!!!!
