Choosing the right medication!!!

I have a 2 and half month old puppy and I need to start him on flea and heartworm medication. I recently went to the vet and he recommend Trifexis but I research it and found some bad reviews. I livein florida so its imperative that I use both flea and heart worm. I also have a 7 year old maltese and I give him Comfortis and Heartguard and he has been fine. The Trifexis on the other hand has both medications in one pill. So Im kind of conflicted.
Does anyone here use Trifexis? or any other flea prevention?

The beasties build up resistance so we do have to change around and new products developed. Also dogs and cats vary in their tolerance of the meds. Since nothing is ideal for all dogs you will read bad reviews on all. It would be more convenient for you to have them both on the same meds. Perhaps there's a reason why your Maltese can't be on Trifexis or your pup on Heartgard and Comfortis, talk to your vet.
