GA Breeder - Jackie Drumm???

Hi everyone, we really need your feedback about this breeder. we recently put down a deposit for one of Jackie's pups THEN we found oes.org and discussions about her being a really, really bad breeder (almost evil) When I contacted Jackie asking for my deposit back she provided me with AKC paperwork of the parents so now I am confused...I don't know whether I can trust this breeder or not. There are a few things that made me a bit uncomfortable:

1. She does not have a purchasing agreement for the buyers
2. She is not very responsive via email/text
3. She sends a video of our pup once every 2 weeks or so

I can pm the paperwork she sent.

Help please!! Thank you in advance!!

Hi I also would like to add she has really good reviews on pet finder.com.
Hi I forgot to add she didn't offer much instructions/information on her puppies...
She offers 2 year health guarantee on her pups.
As wrong as this sounds, look at it as buying anything else, especially a big ticket item such as a house or a pricey car - if you're not comfortable with the person taking your money, DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM!!! Turn around and RUN!!! Don't look back and don't slow down. After all, this isn't a house or a car you're speaking of - IT'S AN LIVING, BREATHING BEING for God's sake!!!

Does it surprise anyone that right after a long thread about this person comes back up from the dregs of the forum that now there is a other post about her and oddly enough, THREE responses from and unregistered guest who undoubtedly expects everyone to respect their opinion when they don't even have the decency to give any info to back up their claim to credibility. If you want more info about the GA breeder, look here - http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=17058. Trust those who are willing to put their names out there. Sure some users go by screen names but they've been around long enough that most do know them by name.

And with regards to a health guarantee... This really bothers me hearing this. We got our Caitlyn from a breeder who didn't give us any guarantee other than the pedigree. With what was in that pedigree was MORE than enough of a guarantee to suit us. She came from a long line, (on both sides) of VERY healthy Champions and Grand Champions. ALL of which had all the required tests and certs to back up the pedigree. Any reputable breeder will stop at nothing to show off to you these accomplishments. If they don't at least offer, and you're an absolute fool to NOT look at them if it's your first time dealing with a new breeder you know nothing about, then either walk away or expect issues. And sadly possibly major issues.

Think with your head and not your cute.
Vance
Thank you so much!
Like you, I had put a deposit with Jackie before I found this forum. The pups were born the day before I read the thread about her. While I was trying to decide what to do, she did something that helped seal the decision for me. She had sent me pics of the newborn (hours old) pups after they were born. When they were two days old, I emailed asking her a few questions, one of which was what age the pups would be when I chose which one I wanted. Her reply was that I needed to pick as soon as possible because there were other people behind me in line. 8O That settled it for me. I already had misgivings about her, but to want me to pick a pup at two days old with no idea of personality/compatibility told me that finding the right home for the pups was not a priority. I informed her that we had changed our minds and would like a refund (which I didn't really expect to get). She did actually refund the deposit in about a week (after another inquiry by my husband).

We found a wonderful breeder and had to wait an extra few months, but it was so worth it! I know our Sam came from healthy parents and a breeder who didn't just want our money but cares about her pups and their families and stays in touch and available for anything we need.

Please consider finding a breeder who does health testing and cares about the breed (and all their pups). You won't regret it. Please keep us updated and be sure to post pics when you find your perfect puppy. We love lots of pics! :D
Hi Everyone,
I am here to let you all know that I have been Breeding OES for 25 years. My dogs are OFA certified. Their eyes have been certified as well.
About 5 years ago I sold a lady two puppies. She went on this site and started a negative post about me. I am sorry she was not happy with the puppies. She never came to me to tell me she was not happy. She visited my home everyweek to play with her puppies. There have been a lot of negitive posts since then from people that don't know anything about me.
The AKC came to my home and gave me a great review. The gentleman looked at my dogs, puppies (I had a litter of puppies)and he looked at my where they are kept.
I have all the certifications, and the letter from the AKC regarding their visit. In case anyone is interested. They are also posted on my website southernsheepies.com.
How many OES breeders that are not OFA certified. I love what I do and I raise try to raise healthy puppies. If someone puts a deposit down and they change their mind, I refund their money. I bet I am the only one that refunds deposits.
I great references on Puppyfind as well as my website.
I just wanted to set the record straight.
Thanks,
Jackie Drumm

I have been to your website several times and I have been unable to find anything about
OFA or AKC there. Could you maybe point me in the right direction? How are you listed
with the OFA so we can go to the website and then we can see that for ourselves? I am
uncertain how to look you up. I'd hate to confuse you with anyone else.
I'd be happy to post the 7 years of vet records I have from the two puppies I got from Jackie Drumm documenting their health issues, starting with the severe urinary tract infections they came home with (citing crystals in their urine resulting in permanent incontinence in one of the dogs),multiple eye infections, repeat ear infections and severe aggression. At six months old my vet gave me two options- euthanizing them, because of the bad breeding and aggression issues, or seeking help from a local aggression specific trainer. We did the latter. We love our girls, but things would have been far less expensive and far less emotionally traumatic if they'd been bred responsibly, using breeding stock that had a history of good temperament and over-all good health.

I also work with the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East- we get many of Jackie's dogs in from people, with their AKC papers naming her as breeder, with similar aggression issues. I'd love to see OFA and other health documents- I know the stud and bitches of our girls never had them. Jackie kept promising to show me copies, but once we got our pups home, she never replied to any of my emails.

7 years ago, when I got our two puppies, Jackie Drumm was having 4 litters a year off of just 2 breeding bitches. This isn't a responsible breeding practice. I made a lot of mistakes as a first time dog buyer. A responsible breeder would never have sold me 2 female litter mates. Jackie was glad to have the money, and didn't care a damn about the dogs. When I got our dogs-- and don't get me wrong, I love them to pieces--- I had no idea the years of difficulty we were looking at. If we hand't had the money, the time, and the constant willingness to work through behavioral issues and health issues, we could have never kept our 2 dogs that we got from Jackie.

If you can stand it, there are 11 pages of a thread I started about our journey through aggression specific training here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19517 You won't think highly of me when you are done reading this. Lots of people stopped being friendly with me because of the difficult choices we had to make. But I did them to be able to keep my dogs and control them...and all because I was stupid enough to get puppies from a breeder that was pumping out puppies thinking only of financial gain, and not about the well being of the dogs or the affects her irresponsible breeding would have on the lives of the people getting her pups.

This is my experience getting a pair of puppies from Jackie Drumm. Other people may have had better experiences. This is merely my personal accounting of the situation, and doesn't represent the opinion of OES.org or the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East, or anyone that owns, manages or moderates OES.org or the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East.
This is Jackie Drumm responding to the last post. I am sorry if you had sick puppies. What I don't understand is if they were that sick why did you take them. You were at my home every week. Your puppies parents are not even part of my breeding dogs. They are retired they are 10 years old now. That is how long ago it has been since you since you first posted story. I will contact the OES rescue in the southeast myself because I don't believe that have taken any of my puppies in. I am sick of the to death of the negitive comments from her. I will have my daughter post where you can find my records on my Website. You all can email me at southernsheepies@gmail.com and I will send them directly.

:hearts: Jackie Drumm is one of the finest breeders of sheep dogs I have known. She personally cares for each pup daily where they live in a warm, quiet, clean environment. Her pups are OFA certified and their lineage is phenomenal, nothing but champions. She personally drives her pups to their new owners and will not sell one to a prospective buyer who she feels cannot care for the dog safely and lovingly.
Over the years I have come to learn that Jackie is both trustworthy and honest to her clients. Her life is dedicated to her breeding of sheep dogs and her small family farm of interesting animals that respond lovingly to both she and her husband. They are so much fun to visit and watch them interact--lots of laughs.
And where is all this PROOF you keep telling us about? I am still waiting for you
to post it as you promised.

I'd love to see any of it.
