Turkey

Is there a problem to give dogs a bit of turkey?

not to my knowledge. Like chicken, it's not a good idea to give them cooked bones. But I've given my guys raw turkey necks from the butcher shop-- they love them! In fact, I began freezing them before giving them to the girls, to help slow down their devouring their treat!
A bit is the key. Too much and they can develop serious tummy problems and maybe even pancreatitis. So measure out, no more than 1/2 cup lean meat, leave out the greasy anything. Skin is a no-no because of the fat. Save more turkey for another day. Dressing, mash potatoes.......all no more than a tablespoon especially if they are not used to richer food. Even then may be a bit gassy for a few hours.

If I didn't use the necks, etc for stock, I'd also feed to dogs. As it is they get organs and morning taste treats.

I know you or husband will want to feed more, and of course the kids will assure you they can handle all you give them, but don't do it. Set aside and serve a bit each day, not one big meal.
I've feed my girls turkey and have never had a problem. I don't give them bones or raw turkey, just makes me nervous. I've been lucky my 3 girls have pretty good stomach, so takes alot to upset them.

Like Susan said, limited quantities.
